Traveller Companion Chargen Question

Finally broke down and bought the Traveller Companion. Glad that I did. I really like the alternate Chargen methods. One question, though.

For the section on Page 21, under the Careers heading of Finalising the Traveller, there are three options. The first two options I get. They offer good mechanical bonuses.

What I don't get is the third option, the one to end your career at rank 4 instead of rank 2. It specifically states that it gives you no new skills. So what's the benefit? Thanks.

Michael, I really like the book. Chargen is somuch easier. Oh, the new characteristics are all very interesting.

While we have Michael/Martin here with us, I’d like to add that I finished his “Shadow of the Storm: A Story of the Solomani Rim” last night. Enjoyable Traveller fiction. Highly recommend.
