High Guard 2e question

Postby qstor » Sun May 17, 2020 8:50 pm

Does Armor add to the Hull point value?

I've been trying to convert some of the MGT 1 ships and I was trying to figure out the hull point value.

No, they are separate, see Core p159.

I would use the system from HG p10: One Hull point per 2.5 Dt Hull, +10% extra if reinforced structure or hull. Ships over 25 kDt get more Hull points.

Hull points in MgT2 represent both Hull and Structure in MgT1. You generally get a lot more Hull points in MgT2 than you had Hull + Structure in MgT1.

Armour, by it's nature, is protective.

Hull points is toughness; the bigger you are, the inherent toughness multiplies.

At the other end of the scale, you can cost cut and lighten the hull, at ninety percent toughness from the default.
