Official Mongoose 2E Traveller ruleset on Fantasy Grounds VTT

Postby Chumbly » Fri Sep 20, 2019 12:48 pm

Just thought I would mention it for anybody interested in playing Traveller on a VTT
Since Tuesday Sept 17, there has been an official ruleset for Mongoose Traveller 2E in the Fantasy Grounds store.
It is being actively worked on and supported.

Supposedly, the first 2 reach adventure modules Marooned on Marduk and Theories of Everything will be released
on Fantasy Grounds shortly(like in a week or two)

So you're going to be a human computer for other video players?

not a computer moderated game.

it's a tool that helps run the game, providing access to things like dice rolling and shared maps over the internet

There is NO AI in Fantasy Ground VTT. There is NO replacement for the GM. It is essentially a chat system, combined with shared maps integrated with a combat tracker that is coded with the Traveller rules. It has a combat tracker and automated character sheet that allows 1 click rolling of the virtual dice.
The rule set supports difficulty levels, boon and bane rolling, skill and characteristic checks, plus attack and damage rolls. When virtual dice
roll, there is animated dice rolling in the chatbox. It also provides a story tool for the GM, so the campaign GM data is available to the GM
for possible display in the chatbox to other players. It is also possible for the GM and players to physically roll dice, and enter the dice result into the VTT to track the results for task and combat checks.

People use VTT to be able to have a game session with people all over the world via the internet. Also some people use the VTT
in local gaming sessions to benefit from the automation of the character sheet, task checks for the GM ease of use and also
to have the rules and adventure text available to the GM with a clickable mouse interface.

The Mongoose Traveller Ruleset is basically coded to handle Mongoose dice rolling in the skill checks etc. Also, there is a library tool in the VT
that has the text and images, maps etc from the Rules and supported adventure modules(eg the Reach adventures) available for the GM
with a mouse clickable interface.

This an officially licensed product From Mongoose. It is not some copyright infringement.

Just a side note to the above.. many Fantasy Ground GM's use Fantasy Grounds with DIscord and Syrnscape
to provide a voice chat and sound effects over the internet for their game sessions. So you are not
forced to strictly on have a text-based chat game session.
