Behind the Claw

Hi, I was wondering of the PDF release of Behind the Claw was still on for a June release.

Hi Matthew,

Will it be mostly a reprint of "the Spinward Marches" published in 2008 or will there be...a lot..of new content ?

Thanks,

There is a HUGE amount of new stuff :) Absolutely every word of the original has been checked, re-checked and, if necessary, revised. Deneb has been pretty much completely re-written, and there is a bulk hauler's worth of new material in the book. I mean, a lot. Just the new playable alien races alone would sink the QE2!

Behind the Claw, JTAS x 6 and Shadows of Sindal, all of them in June? "Per aspera ad astra!", really :D  ...

That's excellent news and out of curiosity how many pages does it run to. Thanks

Shadows of Sindal looks like it will lap into next monthly - a combination of staff illness and a bottleneck with art. However, the Drinaxian Companion will be following hot on its heels.

I have not got the exact page count to hand, but this is a 300+ page book!

Someone's claws need a clean. You know all that dirt that gets stuck in there? - overheard at Aslan HQ and taken way out of context. Or is it?

Is June still likely seeing as there is only a few days left?

We are just tying up the last of the artwork - it looks like it will slip into July slightly, but I don't think you will be disappointed with the results. This is a big, meaty book, and it looks stunning!

Are we there yet? Are we? Are we? (sounds of impatient 8 year old child sitting in back of Type S Scout)...

Very close :)

A touch of staff illness has set us back a couple of days or so, but pretty much all the art is in and just needs putting in the book - will have some previews for you all very soon and, quickly after that... the actual book!

Excellent! I am not impatient or anything

Sorry to hear about illness, but good that you are nearly there! Looking forward to it very much. Going to be an expensive moment for me though...

We need the PDF edition finished first before we go onto pre-orders, or it really mucks things up :)

Mind if I get back to you on that when we do the previews? It is a Big List!

I can tell you that Dolphins are one such playable race and they have an equipment list that includes, among other things, anti-grav Battle Dress with under-fin missiles :)

What could possibly be worse than a sharknado? A mechanized dolphinado with guided missiles and lasers :)

On a more serious note... how intelligent are uplifted dolphins in Traveller? Really smart animals or full citizens like Vargr?

Edit: ... and of course, I realize that the given answer is “you’ll find out once you buy the book!” :)
