Boarding actions
Boarding actions
Hi to all,
I see in Core Rulebook p. 163 :
"High Guard includes detailed rules for conducting
boarding actions on the Personal scale, allowing you
to play through a blow-by-blow scenario that sees the
Travellers taking over an enemy ship or desperately
trying to repel boarders."
In High Guard introduction, I see :
"High Guard also presents new approaches to handle
spacecraft operations, from engaging in vicious boarding
actions to spacecraft security..."
In High Guard, External systems p.43, I see a "breaching tube" and a "Forced Linkage apparatus" used for boarding actions. But that is all.
Is that all ? Or did I miss something ?
Thanks,
JNJ

Re: Boarding actions
I don't think there is anything else, and don't know what the core Rulebook note that you quote was supposed to refer to.
I'm not sure what else needs to be included, either. Conducting boarding actions on a personal scale simply means using the personal combat rules.

Re: Boarding actions
The original idea was to include a chapter on boarding actions. But it was decided that would be better for a separate product.

Re: Boarding actions
Are there not additional rules for boarding in the Drinax books?

Re: Boarding actions
Dont remember seeing any, no. There is some expanded material on pirating, negotiating surrender, etc. most of this is very close or identical to what is in the Scoundrel career book.
Re: Boarding actions
The stuff in the Drinax books is more about how you can successfully maneuver your ship to pirate another, advice about avoiding escorts or military craft, how fast you should steal their stuff and get on your merry way, etc. Not much on the actual boarding activities though it would have been an excellent spot for it.

Re: Boarding actions
Well, I guess I would have known that, if I'd been able to read that material. But I'm playing in a Pirates of Drinax campaign, so I can't read any of it yet.paltrysum wrote: ↑Tue Aug 28, 2018 3:43 pmThe stuff in the Drinax books is more about how you can successfully maneuver your ship to pirate another, advice about avoiding escorts or military craft, how fast you should steal their stuff and get on your merry way, etc. Not much on the actual boarding activities though it would have been an excellent spot for it.

That does seem like it would have been a great place for some boarding action guidelines.

Re: Boarding actions
Same material is in the scoundrel book from the first edition.
I think it would be fair for your referee to provide those pages to you, or at least some of the material- only fair thst you know the rules for dice rolls he is applying.
I’m still curious as to what folks are looking for here. Boardng actions can be resolved through the expedited rules in the core rule book, or through the combat rules in the same. I don’t know what else would be needed.

So do space pirates swing from a rope when they go through a cutting airlock?

Re: Boarding actions

There's the option to harpoon the other ship, and zip wiring across.
