How would the people that remembered cope?

Postby JMISBEST » Thu Aug 02, 2018 1:49 pm

Imagine modern-day earth on The Scale of 3 Adjacent Stars Systems that the can be reached without Jump but would take a year or so, now imagine World War 2 on that same scale. What would happen if someone went back in time and killed Hitler, but when he or she returned to the modern time he discovered that the rumours about Hitler being a idiot when it came to military strategy costing Germany, on The scale of A Planet, where due and with him dead The Desert Fox(name forgot) took over and won it for Germany, but in a way that initially The Surrendered Allies where better off for 10 or so years, how would that effect the time traveller if only he knew? and people would out that 70 odd years of Germany Tyranny over 3 Star Systems and playing a part in making Drinax and Sindal in their last 2 Centuries and Oghma's Raiders even worse then they where in the history that was had only been caused by someone meddling with history even if it was well meant?

That is a lot of ifs!
Without the Jump Drive those star systems could not be reached in less than 4.4 years, I don't see how killing Hitler would bring them closer.

Erwin Rommel, though don't know about that he wanted to negotiate a peace with the allies while Germany was still in a strong position with having the European continent under their thumb. It was Karl Donitz who succeeded Hitler, though Rommel had passed on by then.

Unconditional surrender would ensure Germany will get divided, and the industrial might of the Allies made defeat a certainty.

If Rommel had known the details of Operation Overlord, had managed to resurrect the Luftwaffe to deny Allied bombers the access to eventually atomic bomb Berlin, and stalemated the Russians so that they bled out faster than the Germans, maybe.

If Hitler had been killed before initiating Operation Barbarossa, and his successors had persuaded Japan to delay waking the sleeping giant, the Axis may have had more of a chance.

Every single human being in the universe would think it was a bad dream and order another double-espresso with a dash of Madagascar Cinnammon.
