Is it reasonable?

Postby JMISBEST » Tue Jun 26, 2018 8:37 pm

Is it reasonable for A Ship that is A Privately Owned Transporter that that is famous for its luxurious Facilities for even the lowliest of passengers and which carries Professional Soldiers that are on missions that for whatever reason The Soldiers can't use registered Military Ships for/during to allow even A Rank and File Soldier A Area in The Barracks of 1.35 ton made up of A 0.6 ton area for rest, off-duty relaxing and sleeping, A 0.28 tons each for personal belongings and recreational, 0.14 tons for things used in keeping clean and 0.05 tons of luxuries for his/her personal use only that are included in the rent cost and any not used are even given to The Soldier to keep or binned and the money the hirer paid for them given back to them and always replenished?

The numbers don't add up:
0.60 rest area
0.28 belongings
0.14 cleanliness
0.05 luxuries
1.07 total - what is the other 0.28 tons used for?

You forgot that I put 0.28 tons for both belongings and recreation, which should be say personal and if need be private recreation

why is this ship transporting soldiers?

if you want to understand high density crew berthing just research WW1 warships. men were stacked 5 high in bunks hung from the ceiling with zero privacy.

Ok that makes sense.

Have you mapped out the floor area of these volumes to get an idea of how much actual 'room' each soldier has?

In Traveller, a large scale troop movement would have troops frozen in low berths, possibly in modular units in the cargo holds of merchant marine ships.

Strategic, since you'll have to thaw them out and get them up to speed.

But considering the billions of souls available in each subsector, a general levy seems to make more sense.
