Missing tables in the core rulebook?

On page 214 of the core rulebook, at the bottom of the first column, under Star Mapping: "The system hex format table shows the coding and placement of information about worlds within a subsector." Further on, at the bottom of the second column under Gas Giants: "As indicated on the system contents table, roll 10+ for a gas giant not to be present in the system."

I can't find the system hex format table, or the system contents table. Did they get cut, and the editor simply missed these two widowed references?

That refers to a format used in previous editions. It doesn't have information about map hex notation, or the incidence of gas giants.

Maybe we are supposed to use the info on the free downloads of the subsector and sector maps, available here:

If so, that really should be indicated in the text.

I agree.

I also find it a bit strange that no one has noticed this before now :)

I can understand grogs like me not noticing since I have every other version of Traveller and this stuff is in all of them - including MgT1e.

Perhaps there will be an update to the pdf and future printings, or maybe it will go into the Traveller Companion.
