Possibly the best campaign ever published…

Written by Traveller fan-favourite Gareth Hanrahan, the Pirates of Drinax is a massive sandbox campaign with a truly epic storyline that stretches across an entire sector – more than enough space to keep your players going for months… or years!

With nearly 600 pages of adventures and source material in three books, the Pirate of Drinax has everything you need to run a complete campaign for Traveller, where players have complete freedom to do as they wish – a true sandbox campaign.

You can grab your own copy now at: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/218 ... te_id=7242

You can also pre-order the printed edition (appearing later this year as a true heavyweight with three full colour hardback books and a massive double-sided poster map, all bound together within a slipcase) right now at: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/rpgs/ ... rinax.html

If you do this and drop us a line (msprange@mongoosepublishing.com), we will send you the PDF edition for free so you can start your campaign preparations immediately.

The Pirates of Drinax
A truly massive Traveller sandbox, the Pirates of Drinax is packed with enough adventures and source material to keep even the most dedicated group going for years!

In the Pirates of Drinax, the Travellers play a band of adventurers entrusted by the King of Drinax with a letter of marque, permitting them to prey on ‘illegal’ trade within the borders of the vanished kingdom. The King hopes this piracy will give him the leverage he needs to restore Drinax to its former glory, and intends for the Travellers to win back all the planets lost over the last two centuries – but the King’s plans are just the starting point for this campaign.

Once the Travellers have their letter of marque and ship, it’s up to them what to do next. Will they stay loyal to their patron and help restore Drinax? Will they turn rogue and create their own kingdom? Will they be heroes or monsters, pirates or privateers? Will they make their fortune amid the pitiless stars, or will the cold depths of the Trojan Reach be their grave?

The Pirates if Drinax comes in an attractive slipcase, with three hardbacks and a poster:

* Book 1: The Pirates of Drinax Campaign
* Book 2: The Trojan Reach
* Book 3: Ships of the Reach
* A giant 24” x 40” double-sided poster map

The three hardback books that form The Pirates of Drinax contain a full campaign, the Trojan Reach sector, rules and source material introducing the ferocious but noble Aslan, and many new ships unique to the Reach, along with a giant poster map featuring the Trojan Reach sector, the Floating Palace of Drinax, and the Harrier-class commerce raider.

The Pirates of Drinax truly has everything you need to run an action-packed Traveller campaign.

Hello,

I'm new to Traveller RPG, I'm a french referee so my english is not perfect but I'd llike to ask some questions.

Actually, I've got the core rulebook and High guard, does the Pirates of Drinax need others books to be played ?

I'm looking for a setting/campaign for my players but, do you think Pirates of Drinax is a good starting point for 4 players and a referee who want to discover this game?

Thanks

I am a GM of a group who is about 2/3 through the original edition of the campaign.
Based on that, I'd sayYES! Go for it. It is an incredible campaign full of interesting worlds and things to do.

The sandbox is big, and there are enough areas left open for to put your own mark on it as well. That also means the players will inevitably go to one of those when you aren't ready for it. So sometimes you have to improvise.

There are some tools included there and elsewhere in the Traveller Forums and web sites and supplements that can help there too, when you running low on inspiration.

I haven't seen the new pdfs yet, but if the past is any indication this will be great and you will love it.

This edition of the Pirates of Drinax is an amalgamation of the original campaign and Alien Module 1: Aslan (including the Trojan Reach sector). However, in every case, we went back to Gareth's original manuscripts and built the new edition up from there. Material has been revised and added to - there is now oodles of it! You'll find new ships, vehicles, monsters, equipment, and all the original items have been updated to the new edition of Traveller. The Trojan Reach sector map has been updated to the latest format, and now has more information on it (and yet is easier to read!), and we have included giant plans for the Floating Palace to be used in the coup mini-board game.

Added to that, we have really gone the extra mile with the presentation and artwork (some of which is simply gorgeous), so overall it is a lot more evocative to read and run!

While I've so far only scanned through the PDFs, I've gotta say these look really fab. :D :D Can't wait to get the printed books. I'm really excited to get this campaign started, and my players might end up finding the Amuar sooner than expected so I can move them on to Sindal.

If this an indication of what the Great Rift stuff will be like then I'm glad I backed that as well.

Congratulations on the release.

Dan.

Looks great. I love the updates to the Aslan material, especially the character generation. The poster looks beautiful. Can't wait to get the hardcopy. The ships are inventive and will make great additions to any Trojan Reach campaign. Nice work, Mongoose. This material will be great to run!

I've noticed a couple typos.
Would you like us to point them out here or in another thread?

Just a question:

Will you be making 2D Deckplans for the new ships in Pirates of Drinax?
I find the 2D Deckplans much better for tactical maps during play than the isometric deckplans.

Thanks,

Allan

In Appendix 2, what do the entries under "Policy" mean? Is this something from the 2nd edition rules?

Nope. it's from Adventure 10 in the campaign. Check out p. 246.

Thanks, I have found it.

Another question: In the "Patrons and opportunites" chaper on Inurin, there is mentioned of "Sarna", priests, and fungal caves. Is there more information on those topics? They aren't mentioned in the book 2 entry on Inurin.

Do any of the published books contain more information than in Book 2 concerning the surface of Drinax, such as a map, more data on the Vespexers, etc? I threw a one-off encounter at them down there that has led them to believe a foreign power is deliberately supplying raiders and causing chaos downstairs on Drinax, and I subscribe to the "sure why not" school of GMing. Now it may be a major plot arc tracking this down, and I'd like to know if there's anything Mongoose-official before I go and put all the work in myself.
