Ow, my eyes
Currently the careers are all white and blue text on a black background. Please Mongoose, don't do this. It's really hard on the eyes after you've rolled a couple characters (i.e. if you're running the thing and helping the players make their travellers)

As the reluctant owner of several different prescription eyeglasses, I must concur!

Re: Ow, my eyes
I'm afraid I feel exactly the opposite. I prefer the high contrast. It makes it much easier to read.
This is coming from a reader with <6% standard eyesight. a

Re: Ow, my eyes
Downloaded NEWTRAV_UPDATE_4_DEC.pdf had a look at Careers. It is now black text on a pale blue background. Had to press CTRL and + to zoom in to read it on my computer. Looks OK to me.
However, the colourful PDF is 38.2MB and slows down my computer considerably. The printer friendly PDF is 4.9MB, is considerably faster on my computer and the contrast is perfect.

We'll look at doing a b/w print-friendly PDF version in the full release - remember that the full colour edition is designed primarily to be viewed as a printed book where some colours might be a little less glaring.

The Isometric Deckplan Key on page 165 has a problem with the Iris Valve icons, which are not easily visible against the background on screen or in print.msprange wrote:We'll look at doing a b/w print-friendly PDF version in the full release - remember that the full colour edition is designed primarily to be viewed as a printed book where some colours might be a little less glaring.
Re: Ow, my eyes
I printed out the NEWTRAV_UPDATE_4_DEC_PrinterFreindly and found that the Drifter career information did not print (Ranks and Bonuses, Mishaps and Events did print), so I took a look at the page in the pdf (just to make sure it wasn't my printer messing up) and found that most of the info is greyed out and is too light to print.
Edit, just took a look at the rest of the careers and here is what didn't print out due to being greyed out:
Citizen: Career Progress is greyed out and doesn't print;
Marine: Skill and Training is greyed out and doesn't print;
Merchant: Career Progress is greyed out and doesn't print;
Navy: Career Progress is greyed out and doesn't print;
Now there's a problem

Re: Ow, my eyes
I agree with the OP - I find that colour combination very jarring and hope it doesn't make it to the final release.
