It's probably me being thick but I cannot fathom how the key works, as I understand it a "turn3" would turn 90 deg. but however I align the turn key I end up having turned 180deg. when I move the ship model 3 turns around the key. Help me out please! Thanks.

Using the key has to do with how you turn. Do you make three single turns, one big turn, a turn 2 then a turn one. Turn Three means you get three turns whether you turn them individualy or all at once.
