You can get the latest on the first of the new Victory at Sea releases on Planet Mongoose, with 3D pics of the ships involved in the Battle of the River Plate.

As a note - please don't gauge interest in the new edition on the box sales.

I already have models for those ships, and don't collect in that scale, but am very much interested in the new rules.

I love this scenario.

Hoping to crank a game of this one this week...
As a New Zealander, the Leander class light cruisers are very cool and something I would like to have.

Scale seems so big tho!

I was hoping for a collection more at 1/3000 ( Family man...)

I hope mongoose do a Hood, Prince of Wales v Prince Eugen and Bismarck... that would be a nice box to have. ( Haven't seen a historical result yet!)

Am I the only one that can't see this preview? :? All I get is an article about Judge Dredd miniatures. The latest VaS article on there is about HMS Exeter.

Same here - individual models can be seen under Miniatures -> Victory at Sea on the main Mongoose site, but Planet Mongoose does not mention the box set. The Release Schedule lists the Battle of the River Plate Box Set for production in November, the Battle of the Denmark Strait Box Set for production in December, and two box sets for the Battle of Matapan in January.

We are just waiting for a painted Ajax to arrive, and then the River Plate set will be available (along with all the sister ships of the vessels involved). The Denmark Strait models are being prototyped right now, and we are expecting them back this week, along with all _their_ sister ships!

We are about two weeks behind where we wanted to be with this line, but we will catch up soon and, come the New Year, there should be a fairly decent range available!

Yeah, sorry about that. Blame the floods (at least in part) :)

It's a niggling point, but it has already caused a wag to make snarky remark. The label under the GRAF SPEE is spelled Graf Spree in my box set. Just sayin'...

Okay, I got my River Platte box set assembled and primed last night. In general, I have a very high opinion of the miniatures. Bravo Zulu to Mongoose Publishing for a good effort on this. My only quibble is there are no instructions on how to assemble.. anywhere. Now you might think, so what, guns go in gun ports, what's the fuss? But I would have appreciated a blown up drawing to show me where the little masts and such are to be glued on on the model.

Already on the case - those labels were done by someone not so knowledgable about WWII naval. We received the Duke of York labelled simply 'York.' Had to explain York was a completely different ship :)

We have someone else manufacturing these ships now, so those little slips should disappear now.

Nice write-up, by the way!
