Typos and thoughts

Postby Mr Morden » Wed Apr 03, 2019 5:41 pm

Had a intiial read through - looks veyr nice :)

Bits and pieces
* P35 The Leander class Cruiser has its type as Carrier rather than Cruiser
* P41 O class Destroyer – side bar has light guns (4x4in): Only 1 Attack dice….. should be (1x4in)? There are quite a few instances of this – are they typos or am I missing something?
* P62 the M-class Cruiser has its type as Carrier rather than Cruiser
* P75 Duca degli Abruzzi-class Light Cruiser has its type as Carrier rather than Cruiser

Thoughts, queries and suggestions:
* If ships are “not completed” should they have a nominal planned for date same as conjectural ships? Eg HMS Lion (pg 37) vs Malta Class (pg 38)?
* Shouldn’t the Short Sunderland have the ASW and Tough/Large Traits ..................and perhaps a better dogfight (at least better than the JU-88 see below)?

From Wiki but also read elsewhere
During its service, the Sunderland Mark I received various improvements.[23] The nose turret was upgraded with a second .303 (7.7 mm) gun. New propellers together with pneumatic rubber wing de-icing boots were also fitted. Although the .303 guns lacked range and hitting power, the Sunderland had a considerable number of them and it was a well-built machine that was hard to destroy. On 3 April 1940, a Sunderland operating off Norway was attacked by six German Junkers Ju 88Cs; during the engagement, it shot one down, damaged another enough to cause it to retreat and later perform a forced landing and drove off the rest. The Germans are reputed to have nicknamed the Sunderland the Fliegendes Stachelschwein ("Flying Porcupine") due to its defensive firepower.

The type's capacity to defend itself was demonstrated in particular by an air battle over the Bay of Biscay on 2 June 1943, when eight Junkers Ju 88Cs attacked a single Sunderland Mk III of No. 461 Squadron RAAF: EJ134, squadron code: "N for Nuts" They claimed three Ju 88s destroyed.

Similarly the Hunt Class destroyer escort reads "Cruiser" instead of destroyer
Ruler class Escort Carrier reads "Civilian". However you may have meant "Takes damage as civilian" as is shown in the Colossus-class carrier. I'm not sure
Pretoria Castle class reads "Civilian" as do a few others.
Leander class cruiser reads "Carrier"
