Yep, the final version actually has that - didn't update the posted version.

With that change, its a nice build for a hag - just the kind of thing we'd love to see in the next Monsters of Legend

I hope Matt reads these threads occasionally - there seem to be some common themes emerging regarding what people want from Legend.

Possessions: Only a few paltry coins (perhaps 3-5 SP), their weapons and 3 doses of Potent Snake Venom poison (Page 81 Legend core rulebook). 4 Alchemical bombs.
Description: Oddly, the apprentices of the witch-king are not natives of Yg, but are recruited from lands far to the south. They are shaven-headed and dress in dark green robes with gold trim. They wear long fake fingernails of silver, and eyes painted with kohl after the Yar-Ammonite fashion. The so-called “First Apprentice” is a handsome but wicked man named Rilgar Hin (not his native name, obviously). Following hallowed apprentice traditions, he secretly plots to overthrow his master after learning all of the witch-king’s secrets.
Tactics: If given time to prepare, the apprentices cast their protective spells before going into combat, then attacking in concert with the citadel’s warriors. After they have expended their offensive spells, they throw alchemical bombs and poisoned darts.
Bombs: These small ceramic containers are packed with volatile contents that go off with a bang. They cause damage instantly to any creature in the 2m-cubed area of effect all locations as a cloud of burning material fills the area – a successful Difficult Evade test can negate this damage entirely. Creatures are also blinded if they do not pass a Routine Resilience test whilst in the area of the cloud.

SGB 3 = DONE
I had to make some changes, remove certain monsters and use Legend-specific ones in places. But I think I managed to do it justice, well, I feel as happy as I did with SGB 1 and 2 so

It goes into edit today here, for the Mongoose Style guide - after that it's shipped off to Matt.

As SBG 3 will be the last conversion of the existing Xoth d20/PFRPG books, can you tell us if there are plans for any more original material. Or is that it?

I hope that Mongoose will get permission to adapt the excellent adventures that Morten wrote for Ancient Kingdoms: Mesopotamia but I wouldn't hold my breath - this would require a deal with Necromancer Games / Frog God Games as they hold the rights.Marlow Kurtz wrote:As SBG 3 will be the last conversion of the existing Xoth d20/PFRPG books, can you tell us if there are plans for any more original material. A World of Xoth sourcebook would be nice too!

For Xoth, that would be a question to pose to Matthew. My involvement with Xoth has ended for the time being unless Matt has specific plans.Marlow Kurtz wrote:As SBG 3 will be the last conversion of the existing Xoth d20/PFRPG books, can you tell us if there are plans for any more original material. My involvement with Legend is far from over, there are some (hopefully) excitiing new things in the pipeline - but I can't say yet.
I can say that the finished and edited manuscript for Spider God's Bride 3 has been emailed to Matt today though, so he should get that for Monday.

I am a little surprised Mongoose has not really capitalised on the huge sales of the Legend core rules with setting product line (other than SBG, which you've implied is possibly at the end of it's run). Are you saying it's about to?

Re: A return to Xoth for a 3rd time - SGB 3 (DONE)
I suspect that Mongoose was a bit surprised by how strong sales of Legend were, given that MRQII struggled - despite being an excellent system with strong support. The digest format and cheap PDF version helped to bring in a lot of people who either weren't familiar with RuneQuest or avoided it due to prejudices about Glorantha. Either way, Mongoose deserves due credit for giving the system another chance because they believed in it.
I suspect that Mongoose has been working hard behind the scenes to ramp up the Legend product schedule, but due to the long lead times required to commission, write, edit, and layout books that aren't simply reworkings of MRQ II material, we are only just beginning to see the results. However, because RPG material is a niche market whose size is shrinking, it isn't clear where Legend sits in the priority list - I suspect that it is somewhere below Traveller, which is a more popular game and has a very active fan base.

Indeed. The lack of information on the subject only fuels conjecture. As Prime Evil says, where Legend sits in Mongoose's priorities is difficult to gauge, and this subject has been brought up in several forum threads of late, although never properly addressed. These coy teases of things "in the pipeline" surely make Legend the RPG my mother warned me about.

Your mother warned you about RPGs?
I've noticed that the release schedules for all of the RPG product lines have slowed to a trickle over the past few months, but it's unclear whether this is because Mongoose is concentrating on other (more profitable) product lines or whether something has big been has been clogging up the production queue. It's only in the past few weeks that we've seen any updates for the RPG release schedule and most of the release dates are still fairly vague, making me suspect that Matt is juggling available resources at the moment...
