Is there any way to buy more common spells when you create a character? Can you buy more points than the 6 points that are available for Common magic spells?

E.g if you want to create a more experienced character, like a Seasoned one, can you buy more spells by spending free points? Is there any precendence to use free points when you choose your common spells?

I do not want to change the rules in any fundamental way - I just want to find a way in the existing rules. If there are any.

I have not played legend, but if your GMing a game, do whatever the heck you want.

For instance, I ran seasoned characters in Mongoose Runequest 1. Aside from what players had normal access to from Runecasting, having a slightly higher starting level, and money, I gave them 6 points to spend on spells in the following formula:

You have 6 points of magnitude to spend on spells, but the maximum magnitude spell you got for free is mag 3. So that could be 6 mag 1s, 3 mag 2s, or any mix as long as it followed those rules.

You could rule that they can gain an extra common magic spell for the same cost as gaining a new advance skill.

If thats too expensive perhaps look at their Common Magic skill level which could be raised as high as 66% if both Power and Charisma were at 18, assuming they get access to 6pts of common magic normally then perhaps rule an extra pt of common magic per 10% above 30 this skill is rated at so as a starting character they could start off with 9pts of common magic if their skill at the start is at 60% or greater.

Guess it depends on what you want from the game and especially if your gm allows it of course!
