The first new sourcebook for Elric of Melnibone is now up on Drivethru, with the printed version to follow later this month. You can grab a copy at;

http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/1 ... he-Steppes

Beyond the Sighing Desert lies a distant land that is usually only referred to by boasting merchants seeking to add to the price of their wares or else tellers of tall stories in the taverns of the Young Kingdoms cities. Secrets of the Steppes gives details on the geography, flora and fauna of the Dakwinsi Steppe and the regions which border this vast tundra land.

Great!!! I love seeing new Elric stuff. This supplement actually helps me a lot since I just got my gaming group into the Stormbringer universe and am running an updated version of the old "The Fang and the Fountain".

I think I'll base them in Shad to start off since anything I (or they) do there won't mess with the established storyline.

Why should that be a problem? Why not have some fun and change it? Your campaign doesn't have to have the same ending as Elric's saga. Perhaps the PC's can thwart Chaos & Pan Tang and the Young Kingdoms can live on with the Runeblades and Elric dim legends...

Every world? There are others?
“An almost infinite number. It was into one of these I offered you the chance of escape.”
Hawkmoon dropped his head in thought. “Worlds where our history has taken a different turn. Where the Empire never rose to power?”
“Aye-and where that power has been divided or successfully resisted.”
The Warrior in Jet and Gold instructs Dorian Hawkmoon –The White Wolf’s Son.

In Moorcock's own works divergent histories occur.

Nope it's not a problem at all. We just really like the books and how things tie up and so we are leaving it alone.

The end of the Young Kingdoms isn't going to be the end of my players though... They are just going to be tossed through time and end up in my Call of Cthulhu game! We'll have all sorts of adventures in the Dreamlands!

In my own campaign, which is in it's relatively early stages, I temporarily solved the issue by setting the campaign into time when Sadric the 86th is still the emperor of Melniboné. I want to give characters time to establish themselves as heroes or antiheroes and explore the Young Kingdoms while things are still relatively peaceful. Despite the relative calm there is clearly something going on and they have already managed to get themselves involved into divine struggles.

I have refused to reveal if I will follow the timeline of the books or not. But if I use events of the Elric series I will use those more as a background events and make players fight their own battles which may or may not some effect to the fate of the Young Kingdoms.

The next Elric RPG book 'Talons of Winter' includes some tips on how a GM can treat Fate and prophecy in Moorcock's multiverse.

I remember in one of the old Stormbringer books there was an astrologer type of character. I think it was "The Unknown East" or something similar. Anyways, as I recall there was some interesting information on different constellations and such... but never any information on how to use it in game.

Is there anything like that out there?

There's scrutineer profession in Elric, which are astrologers from Eshmir, but core rules and other books don't give much information about the constellations and it's up to GM to decide how these things work.

Will the printed version be hard or soft covered? My preference would be for the latter to be honest but I know some people like hardbacks. Space is a premium for me and it' never seems like the actual binding is any different.

In fact I would be perfectly happy with saddle-stitched binding for books 130pp or less. In my experience that's actually more durable than perfect binding.

Sounds very cool. I'm going to be introducing the Cthulhu mythos into my game as the elder Gods of the Doomed Folk!

I'm wondering what the project status is. Release schedule claims that it's in stores, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm looking for printed book + .pdf deal and my local stores don't have the book. I even checked few UK based on-line stores, but they don't seem to have the book either.

What would be really good would be if Mongoose did Print-PDF bundles.
