Well my group is a bit of a mixture. Check out my Elric campaign site (there's a link in another Topic).

We certainly have no-one playing Elric, and I have no intention of bringing the PC's anywhere near him directly - Stormbringer would love their souls...

It's whatever you make it. My campaign is a sandbox style, but you can do pretty much what you want.

I haven't run it yet, but the campaign arc in Cities of The Young Kingdoms: The South, looks like a load of fun and there's a veritable wealth of scenario seeds in there.

3 years later...

Wow, that's a lot of opinions :)

Anyway, we got back to old D&D which led to the OSR and all the OSR clones and derivations of D&D and I must say that it has been a re-ignition of my gaming - big time. I also started looking for an alternative d100 system and settled for OpenQuest 2, which we have run with much success in the Ravenloft setting (with some Renaissance thrown into the mix). So, I'm back to d100 fantasy gaming, but not in Glorantha for now. Back in 2012 I was so so so so tired of the whole thing and it was a good thing to leave.

Those of you who want my old Glorantha stuff - you can't have it, but I may sell it if you're interested ;)

I don't understand the computer discussion here, but for the record I'm firmly in Mac-land and will never leave.

And you who left D&D during the 3e-4e years - have a look at games like Blood & Treasure, Fantastic Heroes & Witchery or even D&D 5e. Good stuff for certain types of games.

To conclude - I'm back to playing d100 fantasy but not in Glorantha :)

I look at AD&D the same way I look at the Apple I or the Heathkit H8.

I can understand if someone gets tired of the campaign setting. In our group we play different RPGs with different GMs to keep the things fresh. D100 is one of our favorite systems and we have played both Glorantha and other settings.

Although I don't understand why new Legend releases were a problem. Just because there is new version of something, doesn't mean that you should stop playing the old version (I still haven't moved from MRQII/Legend to RQ6). In a similar manner if some product is discontinued it doesn't mean that you should stop playing it. I still occasionally run games with RQ3 rules and old Glorantha books, because RQ3 was my favourite version in many ways.

Currently I'm running Elric of Melniboné campaign, despite the fact that Mongoose discontinued the campaign setting. I still have old books, so it's not a problem for me that there won't be new cool adventures. I'm using mixture of Legend/MRQII/MRQI and Chaosium's Stormbringer books. And besides that I'm drawing whole lot of inspiration directly from Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion novels. Naturally there are sometimes continuity conflicts, because source material is wide, and sometimes some book contradicts what is said elsewhere, but I pick the version which suits best to my own campaign.

Precisely what I did when I ran my campaign (which BTW I'll have to get back to one day!) After a series of misadventures, including a fight against Gaynor, the Damned which they survived by sheer luck (a couple of criticals from the only weapon he wasn't warded against! God, how I hate - Choose Location, Head!) the adventurers ended up rescuing a damsel in distress with a little assistance from Jhary O'connel and his cat, from Violodin's Tower (forgive the spelling it's been awhile) who ended up being the Rose from the book. She instructed them to take various objects which would aid them back on their own world for the closing adventure of that particular campaign arc, the Battle for Tanelorn (surviving adventurers could choose to retire there if they so wished). But first they needed to return an amulet to the correct place - The Mad God's Amulet in Hawkmoon's world (50 or so years prior to the events in The History of the Runestaff) and work their way across that world before they could find the means to return. Which is pretty much where we left off. Basically, what I'm saying is go with the flow, play whatever's fun, you can always come back...
