A Question regarding Monsters of Legend Content

Postby Malakor » Fri Dec 02, 2011 11:26 am

Are there any (or many) significant differences to the content of Monsters of Legend and Monster Coliseum (i.e., how many different or new critters are presented in MoL?)

I'll be purchasing it at some point for completeness, but was mostly curious as to how urgent my need might be.

Thanks for any information.

Offhand, no. There's technically more content in Monster Colisuem, since it has the Glorantha-specific monsters and arena combat rules. Legend provides all the generics but it definitely needs a "Monsters of Legend II" to follow up with some of the holes left in the mix: no beastmen types (to replace broo), no lizardmen to replace slarge, and no kobolds to replace first stage dragonnewts, for example (okay, highly specific examples that refer to my specific needs, I concede).

Anyway, I'm looking forward to its highly portable digest size....but I'll still have MC around for reference for a while until a MoL II comes out that fleshes out and mixes up the menagerie a bit; also, a MoL II would help to get some distinct or unique monsters into the mix, to make Legend stand apart from BRP, RQ6, Openquest and other iterations of the D100 system out there.

@Mwsasser: What's the 5 class monster thing you refer to?

Thanks for the information, I'll still buy the digest size too, I've already set aside a small, 'mini-backpack' that my daughter gave me that will be perfect for the digest sized books and a small bag of dice, but now I know I don't have to be in a big rush.
