Hi everybody,
I was just wondering myself if any add-on (official or not) exists to add or adapt classic human mythologies in Legend (Greek, roman, egyptian, ...), or any game-system compatible with it. Do you know something I could use ?

Re: Mythology in Legend
I would think it would be pretty easy.
Unlike D&D there is no need to list Gods in character skills and spells etc. You fight a God, you die.
So, it becomes a setting thing. If you want to use the Greek Gods, go for it. Each gets a Cult, but there is also a Pantheon cult, which is actually the dominant religion. The Old Titans probably have secret cults working to bring them back.

Re: Mythology in Legend
Right now, I have three Legend books already in the queue awaiting work, a Traveller book I just submitted, a commission Traveller piece with a deadline, and another Traveller adventure I want to finish before Christmas.Rikki Tikki Traveller wrote:I would think it would be pretty easy.

And then, well, let's talk to me about coming back to this topic for 2017, shall we?

Re: Mythology in Legend
Alex, I love your stuff, but I think you may need to branch off and publish this stuff yourself. If you wait for Mongoose, it may never get published...
That's what I did. I published one adventure for TAS and it was the lowest selling thing I have ever done - by far. I don' think it was that bad of an adventure, I just think the TAS setup is not a good way to sell products.
Under the MGT1 OGL, you can publish anything you want, just about.
And since Legend is 100% OGL, you can publish anything you want there too.
Just saying - if the backlog is getting too big, maybe you need to find another way to get them published.

Re: Mythology in Legend
Theres a Roman book for Mithras (which is like Legend by the same writers) and also a Mythic Britain book that has Celtic and Norse gods in it. There was talk of a Mithras Greek book too, but I don't know what's happening with that.Lilor[FR] wrote:Hi everybody,

I'm only an email away, and though I maybe slow, I get there in the end...Rikki Tikki Traveller wrote:Alex, I love your stuff, but I think you may need to branch off and publish this stuff yourself.

Re: Mythology in Legend
There is no published guide to doing this, however, Legend makes it very easy to do.Lilor[FR] wrote:I was just wondering myself if any add-on (official or not) exists to add or adapt classic human mythologies in Legend (Greek, roman, egyptian, ...), or any game-system compatible with it. The basic assumption is that people follow a Pantheon of related deities. other worship forms exist, but this is the easiest to do in Legend.
List the major deities, or those that will be important in your setting. Then list the attributes of those deities and divide the deities into Major, Minor, Demigod, Hero.
Major Deities would grant at one or two Divine Spells per Attribute and would grant related Common Magic.
Minor Deities would grant one Divine Spell per Attribute and would grant related Common Magic.
Demigods would grant a couple of Divine Spells and some Common Magic.
Heroes would probably only grant one Divine Spell and maybe one or two Common Magic spells.
Some Major Deities might have several Aspects, each covering one or two Attributes, but each Aspects having different Attributes and different focus.
So, looking at the Greek Pantheon, as most people are aware of the deities.
Zeus (Ruler, Storm, Sky) and Poseidon (Sea, Horses, Earthquakes) would be Major Deities, Helios (Sun), Selene (Moon) and Themis (Justice) are Minor Deities and Atlas (Strength) and Prometheus (Fire) would be demigods.
Poseidon as a Sea God would have sea-based Divine Magic, as Earthshaker would have Earthquake Divine Magic, he would also have Command Horse. I would expect him to have some Common Magic around those spheres, or around the weapons and equipment he had.
What I normally do is to look at the deity's Attributes, then any particular magic or equipment, then at their deeds. So, Ares and Athena are both wargods but are very different. Ares would have Berserker and Truespear, Athena would have Truespear and Endurance.
Whether you use the standard Divine/Common magic that comes with Legend and its supplements or make up new Divine/Common spells to use with the deities is up to you, really.

Probably not the right thread for this, but ...Rikki Tikki Traveller wrote:Just saying - if the backlog is getting too big, maybe you need to find another way to get them published.
I've got a few books with Mongoose for Legend that are waiting to go. I could self-publish but don't have the layout skills or the time to do it. Also, I would have to source and chase artwork, arrange for Print on Demand and sort everything out. If someone could do all that for me then I would write more Legend material.
