That's weird, works fine for me...

Would be so much easier if we could attach PDF's...

Try this one *edit* link removed

Challenge to all who download: The file is an old-school style dungeon crawl I wrote for my groups end of year X-mas party years ago and I converted the monsters from D&D. Without picking up a monster manual, see if you can figure out what the monsters are (those that aren't blatantly obvious of course).

That's better, that I can see and download :)

Can I add this to the RPG Geek database? If so where should I say it is downloadable from?

I have browsed through it and it looks cool. The 2 pages open content licence at the back is a bit mucked up, with lots of line breaks where there shouldn't be...but that's a real minor irrelevance lol.

Nice map :)

Thanks Bifford, glad you like it so far. I hope your players think it's cool when you run it! Some of the encounters are pretty challenging and could be quite deadly.

By all means list it, as for where it's downloaded from...I don't know, can you say here? If not, can you use my email address? PM me for details.

As for the OGL bit's formatting, the blurby bit is meant to be on a separate page to the actual license if that's what you mean, other than that, my copy looks fine *edit* no it doesn't  , I'll fix up the PDF :D *edit* and besides, it's partly why it's free!

I was contemplating doing a proper job, laying it out in indesign including re-doing the map in photoshop, I didn't really like the shapes of the last couple of rooms and so on, but then if I was going to do all that extra work, I'd have to sell it, rather than give it away.

This way, the people who visit the forum get a little something for free that they can have a bit of fun with and hopefully they'll then support my "published" products, regardless of whether they're independent titles or Mongoose "commissions".

I've updated the link in the 1st post so that it should work now, and I've updated the file as well with a better version of the OGL...

I've also, decided to give you guys another gift...the compulsions will follow

This is a map I created for my Elric campaign, make of it what you will.

If you want it actually hosted on RPG Geek then I can upload the file there. That way it's readily available and on a decent server that won't buckle under load.

No thanks Bifford. I'm not giving it away to all & sundry, just Legend forum members. If others want it for free they'll have to join the forum. Judging by the number of views, I don't think Dropbox or Google have much to worry about

Hi Folks,

I've removed the links for the free download of my little dungeon crawl. Whilst I get this isn't to everybody's taste, a thank you or some other comment from those that downloaded it would've been appreciated. It appears few, if any, of you, apart from Bifford, have courtesy as an advanced skill...

Thanks Bifford for your comments and work in posting it up on RPGNET. I will be making it available via DTRPG in the near future

I must admit I am surprised by the lack of comments. I would've thought that given the lack of activity on the Legend releases and the fact the thread has had a decent number of views, that regardless of whether or not dungeon crawls are your thing, the piece would spark some comments/debate regarding the conversion of the D&D monsters or the way the traps were handled...well at least, that's what I was hoping for.

Never fear good sir, it will be up on DTRPG as "pay what you want" as soon as I finish re-doing the map and layout. I'll also be dropping the price on Bedlam in Blackcliffe :D

Always happy to help! :)

I've not had time to do more than skim through the file but I've been missing my gaming by VoiP with overseas friends recently so might arrange something soon.

It was RPGGeek I put it on. I'll edit the extra info to say it's going to be on DriveThru rather than here. Though I will leave this thread in there for reference.

Take care, and don't be too disheatened!

Hi Bifford,

I'm not disheartened, rather disappointed. I was always taught to say thanks when someone gives you something.

Hi Jim,

I've finally had a read through of the Dungeon of Doom and plan on running this adventure for my group early 2017. I really enjoyed the monsters and had a lot of fun knowing that the "displacer beasst" are going to wreak havoc with my group.

I'd really like to say thank you for putting this out there, it was a fun read with a great old school vibe, and I enjoyed reading it - I'll keep you posted how it plays out once my players have given it a go. Our group has been playing for about 3 months now (twice a week via Roll2o) and I could use good adventures that I don't need to convert from another system. We play in my own setting and the Dungeon fits in absolutely smoothly.

Thanks again for the gift!

Hi Warlock1971,

Thanks for the kind words and you're welcome. I sincerely hope your group finds it fun and challenging, I know mine did in its D&D version! Though they could've all perished to a man trying to solve the entry puzzle...starvation and thirst can be terrible things, though I'm sure the Cleric would've been able to work something out.

One chap, who shall remain nameless (Paul), always harps on about how older versions of D&D are so much better; they encourage roleplaying, rather than roll playing; players have to think to survive not just be able to carve a swathe through their encounters. Now these comments were made primarily because our group, at least when we play D&D, favours the kick-the-door-in-kill-everything-and-take-their-stuff style of play, subtlety is not our thing. Normally the groups MO is buff up to the max (particularly if they've time to prepare) and hack, blast, whatever until they're the only ones left standing. So for our Christmas Party a few years back I wrote this dungeon. Now, you would think that a group, all of whom are LotR fans, and particularly Paul, would be able to figure out the opening puzzle...apparently not. I basically spoon fed them the answer just to get things moving! The Archery Practice encounter proved to be more challenging than most and resulted in a fatality or two...

Anyhow, after a very long winded thank you, have fun with it and please do give me your groups feedback - positive and negative. I intend to release more of these types of adventures in the future and it would be nice to know what players & GM's like and dislike so I can ensure what I offer is what people want.

Cheers,
Jim
