IIRC, Matt did say earlier in the year there would be one and we would suprised. But it hasn't materialised yet.

EDIT: I know why, of course; there is this company Matt needs to run in addition to writing very long, detailed messages to all his customers. I'm just impatient :)

Hey guys :)

Your interest is very much appreciated.

I am afraid to say that, up to now, I have just had too much to do to look at this - however, I'll see if I can make some time this month. It would be a shame to break the tradition.

If he spent half as much time writing the State of the Mongoose as he did responding to every little thing online and mucking up Star trek, it'd be done already.

Catch 22 -

Replies to posts - gets told he spends too much time responding to posts....
Does not reply to post - Will be accused of not taking an interest in the fanbase.....
Spends time working on games - Not interested in the community as he is not responding to posts....

I jumped at SF:ACTA - I honestly thought it would be good for the player base to a European based source, Ok Mongoose/ADB have had issues with this game - It may still grow into something better - I don't know - but sourcing from the US can lead to fun with customs etc...so I will be taking a big step back to see what happens.

Mongoose has some interesting ideas and intellectual properties - I would like to see what they propose to develop over the year and see what the plans are.

I may or may not play the games but lets at least see whats out there.

Two months later... still, better late than never, I say.

Not only would it be a shame to break the tradition, or a sign of appreciation to Mongoose's fan base to let them know where the company stands, Matt, your SOTM is also a valuable contribution to the various reports on the state of the industry and its prospects and hopes for the future.

So despite your no doubt already more than full schedule, you still get my vote for writing it up :-)

I _have_ started it :)

Maybe not as long as some of the others. We'll see how my schedule goes this week :)

based upon my memories of long ago college term papers that
Means.......

You are seated at the terminal, you have salty snacks nearby, 2-3 cans of Coca-Cola, an open word document with a title "State of the Mongoose" and then a blank page...Am I Close?
