We need your help!

Mongoose Publishing has just launched a kickstarter project for a new board game, Dark Eon Assassin - Tyrant of Acheron.

Dark Eon Assassin is a solo science-fiction board game, where you play a highly trained operative engaged on a deadly mission to defeat the Tyrant of Acheron. During play, you will get equipped with a variety of lethal, high-tech devices and weapons to aid you in your task, then infiltrate the Tyrant's palace, avoid his defences and, hopefully, end his evil schemes. But it will not be easy...

We are using the highest quality components in this boardgame and have prepared an introductory video on the Kickstarter site that we hope will put you in the right mood for Dark Eon Assassin!

So, with the $500 reward of one of every existing item in a game line:

For Traveller, how do you figure it? Is Traveller all one game line, or is it subdivided?

If it's literally one of everything from one line in the store then that can be ridiculously good deal. Say with the star trek...If that contains all the fleet boxes etc...Well I got around 500£(note pounds) before even going through every page...If kzintzi and/or gorn will be added as well even better.

Too bad I don't have 500$ to spare. Saving up on next year's trip to japan which ain't going to be cheap and since that's not something that will happen often I want to ensure that trip I'll be able to see as much stuff I want to see as possible.

If you got the $500 pack and opted for ACTA ST, would you get the command cruiser Fed variant?

Hmm. Guess this project won't get kickstarted.

Any chance of Mongoose releasing it later anyway?

They have used the background and images to create a Traveller supplement. Who knows maybe that will generate enough sales to justify the board game.

That would be kind of against the spirit of Kickstarter. If you can already produce your product, why would you use method like Kickstarter? I understand that Kickstarter or IndieGoGo are the flavor of the month, but these sites should not just provide pre-order options for already established publishers.

For the same reason any other company looks for outside funding when it could afford it from within, to ease the load.

Well, the clock ran out with a massive shortfall. What happens next, seeing as it's still available for pre-order (Delivery September 2011)?

What about the rest of the board game pre-orders? Devil's Dice, Sedan Chair Racing and Meerkat Slammers have all been on pre-order for months, but no dates and little info.

Devil's Dice has too little info to know what it's about, but the other two look interesting.

Or have Mongoose decided that boardgames aren't their thing?
