S&P 88 Feedback

Postby The Greek » Thu Dec 23, 2010 5:48 pm

Starting this thread early since Christmas and the New Year are likely to get in the way otherwise. Hoping to get feedback on the new issue of S&P.

Cheers

Red in Tooth and Claw

Postby Shokker » Mon Jan 03, 2011 12:24 pm

Red in Tooth and Claw is yet another superb Judge Dredd supplement.

Thanks Signs & Portents for not forgetting us Dreddheads and thanks again John White for finding the time to write up this excellent Cursed Earth article!

More dreadful photos of Noble Armada ships. And what is up with the maps in the battle report?

How can you get so much other artwork so sharp and then let your newest game down so badly?

Oh well, it's the rules I'm interested in, not the models.

I'm going to half to say i was very disappointed with the Nobel Armada information in the new Signs & Portents. I've been trying to promote this game a bit, telling people hey give it a chance, but not only do we get to see very little new stuff you posted bad drawing instead of photos. Very disappointing for your first foray back into the miniatures market.

I hope that we get a much better view of all the ships, some renders of proposed ships and a battle report with actual photos in the months to come.

Noble Armada: Gatling Laser Rules

Postby treknogeek » Tue Jan 04, 2011 7:20 am

I have a question regarding the Gatling Laser rules as described on page 17, which reads, "• Enemy fighters.
• A rocket, missile or torpedo attack.
• A boarding action using a grapple gun.
Whenever a gatling laser reacts to one of these threats, roll three Attack Dice for it."

While this Rule of Three is described on the enemy fighters and boarding action sections, there is no reference to 3 dice being used in the Rocket etal section. Is the typo with the quoted paragraph or with the Rocket attack rules?

Having a Rule of Three is nice because it provides a sense of realism in a battle. For example, a small ship with one Gatling Laser can only destroy a maximum of 3 out of 10 rockets launched by a much larger ship. Without this restriction the Gatling Laser becomes disproportionately powerful, potentially (though admittedly not realistically) 10, since there does not seem to be any kind of burn out rules like there was with Interceptors.

Gatliong Lasers can indeed only use three AD against each _type_ of attack - so, three against missiles, no matter how many get fired at you.

Just got round to reading through it. A much meatier offering and looks pretty good to me. Glad to see it's getting some love.
