I came very late to the party but fell hard for SST, I really love it. What started with "oh, look at that, huh, I didn't like the movie because I'm a purist but my wife who never read the book really liked the movie - maybe she'll play this game" has turned into near a $1000 investment (spent $150 to get $600 sticker price just two months ago), and about 20 Demo sessions (close to 100 hours) in a years time at local game shops here near Tacoma WA. Some people think I'm a chump. I still like the game, I just can't recommend Mongoose anymore, it hurts too much.

There a few of companies have starter set for armies. (GW & PP both have small playable boxes)
