Of course there IS possibility that spammers have been dead idiots and are using static IP. But that would require such an incredible stupidity that odds are slim.
I was mainly referring to ranges.. since alot of spammer come from RU. The only down side of course is it may also block lagitimate users..
Yes. And then the spammers bypass those ip's. Masking your ip so that you appear to come from alltogether different country isn't exactly rocket science these days. If they are really smart they will mask their IP's to come from UK/America then. How mongoose would feel about banning swathes of UK/America IP's...
Thing about automatic blocks are that they are pretty much always crackable. Heck historically attack generally has trumped defence in history. Armour can't be made tough enough guns can't penetrate etc. Very annoying
edit: Am I only one who has noticed that spammers are concentrating most heavily on the off topic section? At least they are honest spammers who admit their messages are off topic!
