Hi,
sorry if there is a thread for this already but if there is I must have missed it.

So Mongoose is finally doing 28mm WWII rules.

What period will it cover?

Will you be doing your own figures?

Hi,
the picture shows US troops during the D-day landings.

Will the rules only cover this or will it include Poland 1939, France 1940, Italian, North Africa, Invasion of Italy, Crete, Invasion Of Russia, Stalingrad, Kusrk, Burma, pacific islands, Norway.............

WWII is a big subject. Just looking for some details.

My apologies, it was difficult to resist

I have a playtest copy and am sworn to secreecy, but what I can say is that whilst the playtest material is late war the system itself is perfectly adaptable to just about any WW2 setting (and probably a fair bit earlier and later too). Definitely scope for a LOT of spinoffs and supplements

to tell you the truth I'd probably done the same thing.

I'm a big WWII fan and the thought of this mixed with a mongoose game system is great. Looking forward to seeing them.

Gues I have an excuse now to post some of my 28mm WWII figures in the painting section.

Now all I need to know is if Mongoose are doing their own figures. I'm guessing at no for the same reasons as VAS. There are plenty of other manufaturers out there already.

The first book will have all the rules plus army lists for 1944-45 forces.

Including rules for jungle warfare or fighting in snow? My two areas of interest in Ww2 right now are Russo Finnish and Burma

When I said 1944 I should have added it's the European theatre, so no jungle stuff yet I'm afraid.

It would be so nice to get a set of WW2 rules that didn't need you to buy a supplement or something before you could play away from the Eastern and Western Front

Books like that done properly would be too large to print at a competitive rate. Army lists take up a lot of space if done well, and I'm doing this well.

There will be plenty in S&P, you can rest assured, and as long as I can convince Matthew, supplements as well.

Funny, they used to be able to do that in the 1970s and 1980s

I fully accept that army lists are probably going to be delivered via supplements (it seems to be the industry standard these days) but I don't see a need (other than pure commerciality) not to make the rules themselves comprehensive in their coverage.

I'm really looking forward for this, as most ww2 i've seen seem to over complicate things, if mongoose tries there hand i'm sure it will be a goodun.

i'm so looking forward to may now, just wish you could get it out sooner.

BTW Ian do you have all the playtesters you need?
