Kickstarter painting

Given the recent bad weather, I've made a start on some of my Kickstarter figures.

Disclaimer - the figures have been painted and varnished. I'm waiting for a new can of dullcote to arrive to get rid of the shine. Also, I need to finish off the bases (something I hate doing).

First up, my Citi-Def squad. Gone for a predictable green, so that they can be used for a wide range of games.

I like them, and I too share you hatred of basing (though it always makes models look better).

Did you use a dipping technique?

Yes, I use Army Painter Quickshade for dipping.

I got a big fat parcel in the post today (Demonic Cabal, 2 Lawmasters, Cal set, Judge II set, Holocaust Judges, Skysurfers, punk gang, Brit Cit judges and Angel gang) so I'm ordering some nice resin bases and will start painting them up.

I'm in fact thinking of these.

While using these for the Holocaust judges, large demon and big robot with big hammer

However there are also these, with the plus point of doing bike bases

What are peoples thoughts?

I've also got to base a Deathwing army imminently, and can't decide between a Space Hulk basing style or the Urban bases above.

The holocaust judges and the big robot really don't need 40mm bases. In fact, squeezing them onto a 25mm base really helps emphasise the size of the models. Just my 2c.

I used these for the Citi-Def I finished painting last night - might get pics up tonight or by the weekend at latest

Bases were pretty easy to work with in terms of drilling, cleaning and painting, Antenociti were very quick to deliver and have a LOT of different sci-fi bases available. I'm planning to use some of the Infinity bike bases they carry to mount my sky surfers on

I believe Fenris are working on some bases that would be suitable for Mega-City One too http://www.fenrisgames.com/

My HS-1 Judges went on 30mm bases, as did the robot on tracks. I'll probably do the same with the big demolition robot. I've always hated having a model's feet sticking off the sides of the base.

richred_uk, be careful mixing bases like that. Those Micro Art Studio bases are very tall - about double the height of a normal plastic base, so the bikes might end up towering over the models on those Antenociti's bases.

At the moment the Micro Art bike bases are just earmarked for the Sky Surfers so it shouldn't be a problem - I have some of the Micro Art ones in 40mm and 60mm which I wanted to look at for the fatties, but will line them up first so as not to be awkward - I will only be using one base manufacturer per gang though, so shouldn't be too bad.

I've just taken quick pics of my Citi-def but started another thread for them :)
