Re: Official New Model Thread
Is there ANY chance that the Specialist Judges might include Wally Squad figures that could pass as Jack Point (a Simp) and/or Dirty Frank (a.... Dirty Frank)?

So, the Dark Judges are no-more and DeMarco isn't a Judge anymore but we're getting models of those!!!!

Ah but the Dark Judges can always materialize due to time dimension fluxy whatnot and after Chaos Day the Judges have lost 60% of their strength so DeMarco could be recalled.

Re DeMarco - not really, she CHOSE to resign rather than be disgraced (Judge Edgar of the Public Surveillance Unit was blackmailing Dredd) she would never be allowed to return, nor would she risk Dredd being disgraced himself.
Plus we have mini's for Judge Cal (RIP), Spikes Harvey Rotten (RIP), etc, etc . . .
The list goes on - I SAY WE NEED MAX NORMAL!

If a Max figure emerges I'm not looking forward to painting the pinstripe suit on him...

Pinstripes/Stripes aren't too bad, they're just time consuming LoL!FinH wrote:If a Max figure emerges I'm not looking forward to painting the pinstripe suit on him...

(I'm assuming I can do pinstripes in a similar way to the way I painted stripes on my Pirates)

Well Death's cronies were out and about as recently as this summer just gone, and as their spirit forms are now in the 'care' of a psychopathic mass-murdering genius I'm sure it won't long 'til they're out again.Doctor-Warlock wrote:So, the Dark Judges are no-more ...
Max Normal's been back in the Prog very recently in the somewhat controversial strip Zero's Seven, and even made the cover:

Plus Mr. Sidney De'ath Esq. himself will be returning to the weekly next year in a new Wagner-penned story.
Do try to keep up!

Re: Official New Model Thread
Speaking of people being hopelessly behind the times, I recently came to the realisation that every single Dredd story I have which features Citi-Def units in action is in black and white; I don't have the faintest bloody idea what colour scheme I'll be painting my Citi-Def squad when it arrives!
Anyone have any insight they can share with me as to the appropriate hues for Citi-Def? Does each block have a uniform colour? Should I go for an urban camouflage motif?
I know people might say "They're your miniatures, paint them however you like!" but this doesn't really help me as I'm deeply anal retentive when it comes to canonical accuracy/faithfulness to lore...

Then the answer is to paint them in black and white!

Re: Official New Model Thread
A recent Cursed Earth Koburn story featured Citi-Def from Billy Zane block on maneuvers in the Cursed Earth. They had dark brown (possibly black) and khaki outfits. IIRC they didnt have any patterning on the uniforms, no camo as such.
An older story about a citi-def unit that had been in hiding since the Apocalypse War featured uniforms that were again in browns, but my gut tells me that this is the exception rather than the rule.
I think that older stories (possibly around the Block Mania era but maybe later) have cit-def units depicted on the prog cover or maybe in the colour middle page spread in garish two tone uniforms like pink/purple with "citi-def" or the block name shown in another bright colour such as yellow. IIRC the colours used looked a lot like the sorts of bright colours that regular MC1 cits wore, except that the city-def wore a uniform outfit. If anyone can confirm or deny this stuff for me then go for it please.
During Day of Chaos a citi-def unit was shown in black, with a bright colour (blue or red maybe, I cant remember off hand) accent on various parts of the uniform. Again, no camo or other pattern was visible.
I havent fully decided how I will paint my citi-def, but I dont think naturalistic hues like browns are the way to go. MC1 is a very artificial, "synthi" sort of place and bright colours fit my notion of the citi-def better than browns or camo. I want them gaudy rather than too paramilitary in appearance.

Re: Official New Model Thread
I think you're right about earthy, military-type tones being too subdued for MC1. As much as it makes me wince, I think I'll probably have to incorporate some bright colours in there somewhere. Perhaps a good compromise might be that thing you mentioned with bright accents/piping on selected parts - I guess they're more likely to look like a sports team than a military unit.

I'd also imagine that the uniform colours vary from block to block, or even unit to unit. These aren't a unified military force after all, so the personal whim of the officer in charge probably has a lot to do with it.

Then there are the ones who just "band together" at the last moment, you can go for a real mis-matched rag-tag look.chaoschild wrote:I'd also imagine that the uniform colours vary from block to block, or even unit to unit. Re: Official New Model Thread
Now I'm thinking blue and yellow (two colours which qualify as suitably bright but don't clash and aren't so garish as to make me queasy). Maybe purple and yellow - then they can look like a bag of rhubarb and custards.
