What Fleet?

Postby Clanger » Wed Nov 10, 2010 12:21 pm

As we all have read the initial basic Fleets. What at the moment are peoples favourite House?

I am going against the grain here and not saying Decados. :lol:

At the moment I am going for House Hazat. They have a good offensive ability and good boarding potential.
In shock of coming 2nd in a tourney :D I WAS ROBBED!!! of 1st place :D

Decados based purely on the fact they are the nicest-looking ships (from what we've seen).

The Malik and Hawkwood designs aren't too bad, but given that I'd like to play in a setting I know, I'll probably get me some Stargate or Galactica minis and proxy as whatever takes my fancy from game to game.

Purely on mini design,

Like most of the Hawkwinds, partcularly the dreadnought and cruiser.

Like the Decados cruiser in particular and most of the rest of their designs.

As an outsider choice , quite like that Li Halan's but would need to need to some more of their fleet.

Of course in game style would also be key to my choice of favorite fleet.

I was wondering who would be first to confuse the Noble Armada house Hawkwood with the rock band Hawkwind. :lol:

From the S&P article, Hawkwood seem to be a good choice to start with, having balanced weapons rather than specialities, which may mean you can use them to try out everything in the new game before switching to a more specialised fleet. And looking at the house insignia, I can see Hawkwood being popular with players from Scotland. :)

From what I can tell:

Hawkwood = EA
Decados = fluff Centauri but playstyle Dilgar
Hazat = Narn
Malik = Minbari
Li Halan = fluff Minbari but playstyle Centauri

The ships are nice looking (mostly) and a good size... other than that, the game is not my cup of tea :?

I'll get me one of each of the starter sets (at least), but I really like the look of Decados.

Probably true, but the results are pretty interesting to see anyway considering the responses the announcement recieved.

With what? 23 votes total? That's not exactly a large pool to make any educated guesses about any trends.

Just from the look: Decados.

Remind me a bit on old Kilrathi Wing Commander designs...

The Decados ships contain two borrowed designs:

The Galliot is the Starship Troopers dropship and the frigate is the Centauri Sentri.
"Bringer of Warmth, Carrier of Carrion, Prophet of Dilgarness, Speaker of all thing Llort!"

Part-time Narn.

Greater use of shields would make either Star Trek or Star Wars much easier to convert to :mrgreen:

Trek seems like a much better candidate for adaption for this version of ACTA, especially with the emphasis on boarding. It seems like that happens quite a bit more in the Trek universe than the Star Wars universe. Again, the de-emphasis on auxiliary craft would also lend itself well to the Trek universe.

Have you seen the number of people used in statistical surveys used in advertising, 23 isn't far off those numbers, especially given the lower numbers of users we're refering to.

Also; BraveSirRobin and Poi, I love your thinking on this matter. Shields, boarding action and reduced emphasis on auxilaries is definitely more of a Star Trek thing. Klingon assault party cutting their way in through the bulkheads; hmmm, angry Klingons in close quarters. Today is a good day to die!

As I understand the background, Hazat is essentially klingons without facial deformities, so it's all good.

Unsubtly violent militarists. It's all good.
Understand that I'm not advocating violence.
I'm just saying that it's highly effective and I strongly recommend using it.
