Fix to Swarm Fleets!
So, I've come up with a rather awesome fix for swarm fleets:
Each player gets 1 shot glass for each ship he/she has in their fleet (with the exception of fighters) filled with which ever alcohol he/she chooses (all included alcohols are to be of nearly equal proof). Whenever a ship is destroyed, the player who controlled it takes the corresponding shot.
Inability to hold your liquor results in automatic forfeit of the game.

That game is biased against small people because the volume of alcohol is constant!
But it is fun. That, I grant.
Too bad I'd have to scrag gaming on Monday nights, Tuesday at the office would be a Barf-a-thon. Upchuck-o-rama. Whirl-and-hurl.
My ships tend to go boom. And, I'm a lousy drinker.

Then just bring a fleet of fewer but higher priority ships!CZuschlag wrote:That game is biased against small people because the volume of alcohol is constant!

Excellent. I can afford to bring 20+ ships to the tablel33tpenguin wrote:Then just bring a fleet of fewer but higher priority ships!CZuschlag wrote:That game is biased against small people because the volume of alcohol is constant!

If anyone can get hold of the book "Dining on Babylon 5", it has recipes for various foods and drinks using equivalent ingredients available on Earth.
For example, Brivari = equal measures of triple sec, cognac and vodka. (My own variation to make it look accurate is to add a little red food colouring.)
And if this rule goes into effect, I'm going to play with as many Shadow Scouts as I can buy under the FAP's. Or switch allegiance to the Centauri and use lots of Vorchans and their cousins.

You could try sea scallops. Vegetarians could try tofu.
You are welcome to try drinking 320 shots of brivari if you like. I know my limits.katadder wrote:so 5pt raid = 40 havens right
anyone for a 5pt armageddon game?

Two more suggestions:
. Teams rather than individual players. Either groups of allied fleets, or an Armageddon level game with each side split between multiple players. Partly so that one person isn't hogging all the alcohol, but mainly because a multi-player alcoholic ACTA could be a great party.

. Shot glass counters - Mongoose's next business opportunity.

Well, you are more than welcome to publish it, just remember to give credit where credit is due!msprange wrote:Of all the proposals I have seen for the game, it is this one I like the best. . .

I was contemplating that as well when writing up the post. If used as the stem, it would be really easy! Just mount a shot glass on a wide round base and have a cap/lid on top that the ship mounts to!AdrianH wrote: . Shot glass counters - Mongoose's next business opportunity.
