Hello all, you thoughts on the following new ideas...
1. Instead of the old rules for CC attacks, when you need 4+ to hit ( target 4+ ) when you attack in close combat..
WHAT ABOUT..
2. Both you and your target model role their close combat dice, the winner is 4+ of course strikes the other..
On a draw the attacking models wins..
IE/ Usa army trooper rolls 1D6, when attacking a SS trooper, which is 1D6+2, if the usa troopers wins he hits, but of course the SS has a +2 better skill, so there is a chance he win this round of combat...?
Your Thoughts, i wanted to bring this up, as a SS guy only needs a 2 or more to hit if he was attacking using normal rules, this way, we can add a few mods for weapons etc...
Sword +2
Pistol + 1 etc...
Since this would not be used for WAW, it could be used for any future combat systems with the Evo rules this year..
Let me know all, in my horror rules, zombies have a 1D6-2 CC, standed humans a 1D6..., so a human with a cricket bat, could add a extra +1
Thanks

New idea for close combat attacks - thoughts please
It does reduce the effectiveness of CC for units with weaker CC stats, and makes units like SS and Commandos even better.
You could do it, and it would work quite well, but you'd need to playtest with it and work it into the points values of units.
It would also mean infantry assaulted by a tank would be able to chuck tank mines etc at it, and so tanks would never assault infantry.

No problems guys, just wanted to see your thoughts..
i was looking for more flavour to the hand to hand side of things, at the moment my zombies are 1D6-2, which means only hit on a 6, so players will always get a save, so 2 zombies attack a street cop would be 1D6-2 each, and he attacks back with a 1D6.
With my new idea, both zombies roll their dice, cop rolls his, the attack wins if a draw, just had`s flavour, but i can stick with the stand close combat, its also helps with the OGL when it appears...

Poor zombies. But I guess at CC d6-2 and no ranged attacks (I'm guessing) they must be dirt cheap in the points department. It just occurred to me that if everyone had 'Charge' as a Reaction (a la Arachnids) then it would get kinda close to what you were after....
I'm not adverse to weapons that provide a CC bonus but would probably help the equiped living forces than the haplass undead.
Cheers

Hi mark, yes zombies would need a straight 6 ( 6-2 is 4 ), which a a hit on humans, and since they cannot get a kill, humans will have a save as well...
I have put together a trait list for hand to hand weapons, which does not change the CC dice, just things like Target/kill/saves etc...
So now i have a fleshed out weapon list, and loads of traits for humans, i`m planning to work with the OGL when i know more....
Are you into modern or ww2 combat, horror or sci-fi stuff, as i need playtesters sometime etc
