Simple questions to Mongoose

Postby Jellicoe » Thu Feb 14, 2008 3:08 pm

With so much having been written around over the past days I would just like some simple clarifications from above. Sure nothing is certain in life, but given that Mongoose has offloaded what seems to have been the biggest problem around. So:

1) are you going to continuing supporting the game with a yearly up date, new lists, version 3 etc... i.e. not just S&P articles.

2) are the 2nd edition counters coming out? and when?

3) is the painting guide going to be published

I don't expect anything in the next weeks, but as someone who has bought fleets for 3 years now I'd like to clearly know where things are headed.

I too would like to know the answers to these questions. But don't care too much about the painting guide.

Hi guys,

1. That is certainly the intention, yes. We will certainly do at least one book, and gauge its popularity from that.

2. Give us a short while on this one - however, I would say counters are something of an inevitability now. We are just working out how to present them, and what format they should take.

3. We have the text and the photos, but an actual book release seems a little redundant now. We'll get that information to you in one way or another though.

but if mini production is only "mothballed" until 2009 then this book is perfectly viable.

suggestion for the counters:
make the new ship counters circular, varying between a 1" radius and 1-1/2" radius. That way the play experience isn't much different from using models of ships.
Also, a sturdier counter would be VERY nice. the cardstock counter that has been offered in the past gets bent quite easily.

I second that, that way they will last a hell of a lot longer than paper/ card counters.

Actually, this would be very different from the current play experience. The ship models are often much bigger than 1" - 1 1/2".

I'd like to see counters that represent the size of the ship model rather than the size of the bases. It would look better on the table top and would give a better feel for the difference in ships.

(Of course, this wouldn't help with the question of how many angels can dance on the head of a... I mean, how many breaching pods can come into contact with a ship in one movement step...)

I meant that a round counter sized to the base of a ship would more accurately represent the play experience with minis than a rectangular counter. You can stack rectangular counters closer together than round ones.

And some models now are nowhere near the size of the ships, and many ships are not sized similar their priority.

Well, given their abilities (which have nothing to do with their size), Raid for both makes sense; your point being?

What I'd really like to see is counters that are sized proportionally to the ships that they are supposed to represent. I don't want it based on priority level. Counters based on the size of the ship would give a better feel during play.
