We are preparing to run a series or large B5 events in the store over the next few months, so far we are planning the Battle of the Line on a grand scale and the Dilgar final battle at Markab.
The Dilgar battle should be impressive with large numbers of Earthforce, all non aligned worlds, possibly 1 or 2 Narn and of course the obligatory Dilgar themselves. However, according to the sourcebook the Markab fleet were the anchor which held the whole lot together and there are no fleet lists for the Markab. We could either;
1. Ignore the Markab presence, this part of the battle is some ways away from where the Markab are fighting.
2. Proxy the Markab and make some stats up for their ships.
3. Give the Markab ships from other Non Aligned worlds (like the Pak)
- if anybody has any ideas on Markab hulls, stats, etc or can point us in the right directions it would be much appreciated.
The game will be ran in October some time (after the release of the Gaim who took part in the battle) and will be 2nd edition. If you want to join in, just bring along an appropriate ship (right fleet, ISD's, etc) or several ships and pick a side! More details will be put up shortly.
Markab - any ideas?

Well AoG used to produce a model of one Markab ship, although it was actually used as a Gaim ship at the time (salvaged when the Markab died out).
Might be a bit difficult to get hold of however, and it's just one ship.

However looking at your options:
1. Easiest but seems a bit silly to miss out the race whose world your fighting over...
2. This would be my favoured option, although balancing your made up stats against existing ones might be a problem if your worried about such things.
3. Workable and simple, although perhaps a little flavourless.
Ummm... So over all I think I've been almost no help whatsoever. Oh well...

Captain Sheridan you're under arrest for a clear violation of the laws of physics!

Cheers for that Shallowain, I've placed an order! So, I need a few Drazi hawks, a Centauri or 2, the Abbai and some dairylea's and I'm good to go. All I need now are an idea of what their weapons, etc were.
Do any of you guys who play B5 Wars have a fair idea of the firepower, weapons, armor, etc? From reading the fluff they didn't have terribly well armored hulls - 4 or 5 at best. Hmm... we could end up with a work-in-progress fanfleet here.

No it was a full scale B5Wars model, listed as the Gaim Moas Gunship, but the fluff for the Moas says that they were made from salvaged Markab Shafab Heavy Cruisers. The Shafab in its original form appeared in AoG's Dilgar war suppliment along with several other ships (but those never had models made for them).Romu wrote:Hm that markab ship do look nice, was that a fleet action scale ship ?
Bummer indeed... Although I have heard that some people have had problems with the AoG store (which is just selling off their remaining stock, so supplies may run out) dunno exactly what problems though.Wing Commander wrote:Bummer! Would you believe that i had that very Markab ship, I didn't know what it was and ebayed it last year...
As for other Markab designs heres some of the other AoG ones, although there not as good as the Shafab (just blocks really)...

*Edit*
And there was actually one Markab ship in the show.

The Markab's specialty was the Scattergun, which the Gaim (AoG version) also inherited. A weird weapon in B5Wars, at it had a random number of attacks per turn, so while a good defensive weapon, it was very unreliable as an interceptor if you threw a "1" for number of dice that turn. I have no idea what the Markab's primary offensive weapon system was; I doubt the Scattergun was dual-purpose.

Cobbled together from AoGs Ships of the Fleet 2.
Scatter Gun:
A lightweight, short ranged, very rapid fire weapon. Seems designed for anti-fighter/interceptor work. They also used a light version of one on their fighters.
Medium/Heavy Plasma Cannon:
Much as EA/Narn systems.
Particle Cannon:
As the Drazi system.
Plasma Wave:
Ballistic plasma weaponry. Probably like the Pak'ma'ra plasma torpedoes.
Stun Beam
No idea how this worked, but it was an EMP weapon designed to disable enemy ships and crews for capture.
Drop me a PM with your e-mail address and I will pass on the STCs if you want.
