Anyone else disappointed in the full Rulebook?
Anyone else disappointed in the full Rulebook?
I got mine this past week and was surprised at how few rules in addition to the basic rules are in the "full" book. It's two pages of extra rules and the air rules. While the campaign rules are nice I think that's just as reasonably done as part of Signs & Portents.
Also, the production value is not too good. Whoever folded the cover paper over the hardback cover must have been drunk.

Here's the thing.
The books are made at MGP by people who are not pros. This is because they only just BOUGHT the book-making stuff.
This means that many of the 'newer' books will be of less good quality as before. This is why they are asking for someone skilled in book-making.
Do not suggest anyone there was drunk, you may give them ideas. I'm sure they were just hungover.
But seriously, give them a break. Though it DOES suck when you recieve crummy goods.

Actually, I can live with a physically imperfect book. I'm buying the ideas, not the paper.
But what about the paucity of new material in the book? Doesn't anyone else think that the amount of new rules in their make this more the subject of an article in S&P rather than a separate, $25.00 publication?

Well, new rules maybe small in number, but there are sections for differnent scenarios, and a campaign. Not to mention army guidelines for all the factions. Some areas such as terrain making was very weak. Really plaster buildings? Those things are fragile. (and heavy) There are much better materials to make buildings from.
I'm statisified with my book. Mine has no problems with it, and there is enough information for me, even if some of it, isn't to my liking. Remember, the big thing is the unit cards. They will have all the special rules in them, not the rule book.
As for the comment about cutting MP some lack. Well that is pure rot. They are a company putting out a product. If I'm paying hard cash for my product, they better give me the best product they can produce. As for cutting them some slack, I will if they cut ME some slack with the price on a substandard product.
But as I stated, my copy is top nock.
Now for some of those wave one models, that is another story. I should get a discount for them.

You know... I hate to say it but... What I don't like about this is: If I contact MP and get a new book... what guarantees do I have this new one will not fall apart after another 4 days?Paladin wrote:Contact MP, they have already offered to replace any damaged books for free.brook wrote:My four day old book is falling out its binding. I love good customer service for sure, don't get me wrong. But I love a good quality product even more, cause then I won't need the customer service as much.

Well, I normally would not come to MP defence, but....
I don't get it, they said they will replace a defective copy. Do you really think they are soooo stupid to replace a bad copy with another bad copy?
From what I gather the first copies sent out were defective. Many players got those first copies. MP since has made another run of the books that are a high quality. I recieved one of those books. Excellent quality.

I have had experience before with MGP when buying some models that where missing bits, all I can say is the service was A1+, I sent them an email, I had one back the next day asking for my address which I responded to and within 2 days after that I had the missing parts replaced. I have every confidence that their customer service regarding rule books will be just as good.GhostWolf69 wrote:I hope you are right. Its also worth noting that Matt said the 1st release of books was a bit ropey, but every book sent out to dispributors since about mid May has been of far higher quality after they had sorted out a few gremlins. Hopefully I will be getting one of these as soon as my traveling man gets its new stock in, I will let you know what its like.

I had a read through the rulebook in the LGS the other and to say that I was disappointed with it is an understatement especially after seeing the Infinity rulebook for £5 more.
What was really disappointing was the lack of a complete army list for each faction. Yeah, you got the bits on how to build an army but have absolutely no idea what else is there other than the currently released stuff.

Have to say loved the book, mine was top notch quality expecially for the price and the extra rules change the game signifigantly, adding a large measure of added depth and varieity.
Im just hoping MGP can get the product out here in the states in sufficient volume to meet demand and help us to increase demand by showing off what I feel is an outstandingly FUN game.

I'm still waiting for mine too, but mine didn't count as a pre-order I think.wolfpack95 wrote:I would simply like to receive my pre-ordered rulebook.
