With an 80 ton carrying capacity you could carry a Challenger and a couple of squds of guys :) I wonder what the damage would be of dropping an under slung chally on top of something.....

Yeah, they must have really peed off some deity.... but if you are going to take monsters like this into a combat zone.... you are asking for heavy casualties.

Helps if it wasn't a giant gyrocopter, Evil

And the Osprey concept goes further than that..think Germans in WW2

lol defendin america against the russians again !

wich german one do you mean the mini 3 blade that looked like a UFO ?

americans captured it flew it took it apart, ebuilt it and it never flew again. used to have some pics on it asa child theu painted USAF on the side for its show fight that failed to fully lift from the ground :( shame cuz it would have been awsome.

Germans had alot of inovation.

Try the Wesserflug P.1003/1

Sure, just a concept plane, but the concept was pretty solid.

And why not? It's all well and good to toute soviet engineering, but labling something a tilt rotor when it's not?

Well since the Mi-12 isn't a tilt-rotor aircraft it doesn't really count...

But as for the German thing:

Quite right. The Russians have lost a few over their oversized helicopters in the last years, always with heavy loss of life.
