Seperate minis for the White Star and White Star 2????

Last time I was at Mongoose, Matthew mentioned there were thoughts to produce a new smaller mini for the WS, and leave the existing mini in place to represent the WSC-2.

They would be of the same design just different in size

I personally am a little against this, I have 10 WS minis (ISA Fleet box) and that they can be used to represent both suits me fine. After all, the upgraded WSC-2 was only a systems refit, not a hull rebuild.

Also, there is the similar example of the Vorchan/Vorchar/Vorchat/Demos all being represented by the same miniature. The Demos not being a Vorchan variant rules wise, in the same way that the WSC-2 is not really a WS variant in the rules.

So, I have posted a few options to seek your opinion on getting new minis for one of the WS

I would like to vote : "Yes, current mini for WS, new design for WSC-2 (same size, just cosmetic changes)".

Please don't add a WS2 Mini or change the WS Mini. The Whitestar Mini is just fine the way it is.

I'd like to see a WS2 model, basically the same as the whitestar but with a very slight modification so it would stand out.

How about a missle rack on a normal whitestar to make it WS2?

Its the same hull design, and its a varient. Plus, it screws up the existing stock of the ISA, and will need re-doing (repackaging costs)

A smaller scale WS would look closer to what we see in the show, but I doubt that that´s sufficient to cause all the trouble that would come with that.

Maybe Mongoose should simply sell an "upgrade pack"; with a missile rack and maybe reworked weapon tubes for the wings; to be glued to a regular WS...

I'd like to see that too - same size and scale but a little extra modification (missile rack) to make it stand out (and same for the Demos too with its torpedo launcher)

The Demos launcher is a hatch in the bottom of the hull. We see it in the show, two torps drop out of a square hatch in the underside of the ship and race off to blow some Narn ship to bits.

But an open hatch piece would be possible, even if it was just the doors being open and slightly raised on the hull... not exactly awe inspiring but maybe worth the conversion.

It was a little square hatch that slid open. Just a square hole in the model. Not worth even contemplating, you nutter...

Everyone thanks for voting, please keep the opinions coming, but let's try and keep this to discussion of the WS, leave the Demos for another thread if someone wants to start it, I only used it as an example.

actually those were Drazi ships!

But the Pak'Ma'Ra use Drazi ships so they must sell them, and one would think the Narn are in desperate need of new ships so perhaps they bought some from the Drazi...

I like the idea of an upgrade pack. Something you can chose to add to an existing White Star to turn it into a WS-2. Sort of how you can change some GW units by adding pieces on without actually buying a whole new model.

I'm not in favour of an upgrade pack, it kind of sticks it to the existing mini owners, like myself, who have been using their minis, unlike myself

, interchangeably for WS or WSC-2.

you left one choice out LBH, new design but same size as current whitestar, thats my pick. maybe a bit fancier or some missile tubes but the size should be the same cos its just upgraded whitestar.

Nobody says you have to use the upgrade pack. It'd be an optional thing for those people who like to differentiate their ships.
