Kailord! I have been waiting for your response (on storycrafter or rpol) to my pm as to whether you want to rejoin or not.

And Beglin, the world is more than detailed enough as it is. We can always make up more world information as we need it; after all you certainly do not need anyone to tell you where to play your game, or what the name of every single inn in southern magnamund is, etc etc.
What we cannot make up instantly are new classes. That is why might of magnamund is needed. After that there will more than enough time for regional supplements, or whatever else.

IS anything else going to be published? So far this year, there isn't much in the harvest for us fans to reap. I really feel like Lone Wolf is being neglected and/or forgotten. Lots of things were talked about in the past, along with dodgy answers in the style of "we have things planned".

I am with Kai Lord on this if Lone Wolf doesn't get more things released at a faster rate the line will fold we have been told in the past that we could expect three to four releases a year but that is just not happening. I would consider myself a big LW fan but even I start to wonder off and find other things to do. I haven't picked up Dawn of Destruction yet, though I will, curiously if there had been more releases before I would have done. I think it is fair to say that at least some fans are starting to loose a bit of focus.

We need more releases for this line as it is starting to loose it's way big time! I am also getting a little jaded with the suggestions that there are loads of great things just around the corner. The battle game that a thread was created asking if fans wanted one. But then nothing I think it is safe to say nothing is going to happen with that.

Take Might Of Magnamund, which I think should have been the last release instead we get an adventure wich may be great and I will get it but it doesn't balance out the line. We were told that this was done because fans had shouted for an adventure but I am pretty sure the shouts for might where louder.

I know that Joe has been very poorly and I can understand Mongoose not wanting to put any extra stress on him and quite right too but I very much doubt that there is anything worked on to bother him with. As far as I'm aware no Mongoose staff writer has worked on a LW product since August worked on MOM.

If Mongoose produce more LW material I will buy it but I'm not holding my breath.

However, August Hahn has been on prolonged leave for some time now(afaik), and prior to that he was working exclusively on Starship Troopers rpg. That probably explains why might of magnamund has not yet been started.

Heh, yeah. The ST board has just over 100 posts, and products are being churned out. This board has almost 5x that...and...well, you know.

And August being out demonstrates the vulnerability of devoting one person to a product line. Didn't know that, but I wish him the best and a quick return to normalcy, aside from Lone Wolf.

Its worth noting that Warhammer was kept going via its fan despite no offical support for many years, remaining a very popular roleplaying game. As long as the RPG has a good fan following, it will not just survive, but grow.

Well, there can be a number of different reasons for the delay in releases; apart from August's leave, Joe has recently gotten over an illnes and a kidney operation.

And also, since Lone Wolf is a liscensed product, perhaps Mongoose only made a deal for a specific number of books, and may need to renew the contract with Joe, which in turn could mean extensive talks. (this is all conjecature on my part ofcourse.)

As a side note, if anyone is free and in the area on the Gen Con days perhaps you could volunteer to run a lone wolf table; as it is Lone Wolf is not being represented at this years gen con (see gen con link at top of the page), which is one of the main events to attract more gamers.

I don't agree with those who pray for classes and rules BEFORE background and adventure.

Of course, I agree that a "Might of Magnamund" book would be great to be fair and balance the "Magic of...". Okay. But after that, NO MORE rules and classes supplements please (or perhaps INSIDE background and adventures supplements as "The Darklands").

Anyway, a poll on Tower of the Sun clearly show that a regional sourcebook is what people want.

You can turn the argument the way you want. Saying "if you want adventures you just have to creat them" is as simple as saying " if you want rules, you just have to create them!".

To conclude, I will support KL's idea to write a "fan" supplement on Vassagonia. It would be great!

I am in entire agreement with you. However, newcomers to the World of Magnamund have no immediate access to all this information. They have to really look to find it (and it's not that easy to find) leading to the impression of a "token attempt at a setting for all these cool new rules". Hence I see people using the new classes in their Forgotten Rubbish campaigns and leaving it at that (and probably deciding that since a class book was so expensive they can't be bothered to buy the rest of a range that they see as being horribly overpriced).

Fortunately the two Mongoose adventures really do a lot to correct that, helping to bring the world to life.

Might I suggest this? That any regional source books should also include an adventure or that each adventure should include about as much regional and locational information as the existing ones. That way you get a sourcebook and an adventure two in one deal and both people are happy (the action junkies and the dedicated roleplayers).

Indeed. He wants to write it along the lines of the Darklands supplement, which introduces a few new classes. I think that's a great way of presenting new classes to players, because they fit along with their background, which is completely presented in the same volume. That sounds really awesome, and I wish Kai Lord all the best with that project, as he's already put a lot of effort into it.

If you check that poll you will see that it said "After Might Of Magnamund what would you like to see mongoose publish next?". So it was a little skewed. I had hoped that this wouldn't be an issue by now and that the two books that I feel are core Might and Bestiary would have been out and we would be into source book material by now. I think the idea of regional source books with an adventure or some well developed adventure hooks would be superb.

I also think the line deserves at least four releases a year. Look at wars the new RPG two books out already and a new book a month for the next 3 months. Bottom line is if we had four books a year we wouldn't be having these dissagreements about class books or region books the class books would be out of the way and it would be region and adventure books all the way.

The reason I made that suggestion is that it looks like what Mongoose are already doing (both Dawn of Destruction and Blood Moon Rising hold a nice ammount of Sommerlund and especialy Toran specific information) and I don't want to see them stop including nice stuff to bring the world to life in published adventures (and since the published adventures seem to be coming out before any regional source books....)...

Next I'd like to see an adventure set in Vassagonia or Kalte (preferably Kalte but it holds so many environmental hazards it practicaly deserves it's own source book and Vassagonia is so large and popular that it also deserves it's own publication).

I've got this idea for the mining villages on the Sommerlund/Vassagonian border (the ones that feature heavily in book 4) being the setting for a nice little adventure that I'm already working some ideas out in my head for. It'd be highly suitable for a level 1 party and could easily become adjustable .

i feel the problem with Lone Wolf as opposed to games such as Dungeons and Dragons is that Magnamund is a world that DOES exist (metaphysically speaking of coarse) and some GMs such as myself feel very awkward about taking liberties with interpretation for fear of lessening the wonder that is Dever, so I would be most interested in sourcebooks not just on places but also races, I feel I needn't add that a sourcebook devoted completely to the Drakkarim way of life is what I would most desire to see

You probably won't get closer than the Darklands supplement for a long time. There's some more stuff in the Magnamund companion but you probably know that (and interestingly enough the giak units thing from the Darklands supplement is straight out of the companion, top marks for that ).

To be fair: you are right.
And so I think: Might of Magnamund as a "class" supplement to balance the "Magic of..." should be the next one. And LAST as class specific.

That means that I totally agree with everyone who want mixed background/adventure or background/rules or adventure/background/class suplements.

You know, I'm an "old" RpG player (30 yrs old, 15 yrs of RpGing) and I find that the old Warhammer RpG supplements were excellent in mixing background info and cool adventures. If you know "Death on the Reik" or even "Shadow over Bogenhafen" (without speaking of "Power behind the Throne") you'll understand what I mean.

For now the only "explanation" we have received about the VERY low rate of Lone Wolf publication is the operation of Joe Dever (by the way I wish him a complete and quick recovering) and absolutely NO information about what is expected or even "under brainstorm" next...

This is a bit "light" for me.

thank you just feel lone wolf should be plot and adventure driven ie saving the world from darkness and not about detailed small areas like say conan please shoot me down in flames if you think Im wrong but epic story first is my feeling
