Q: Risen Dead Template
Is there a template for the Risen Dead? If so, where can it be found?

Don't be obtuse. Scholars (well, those with Necromancy as a sorcery style) can cast Raise Corpse and Legions of the Dead, and it's helpful to know what your thralls' stats are when you animate something other human.Sedric the Hero wrote:Um..im sure that reply has little relevance to the question...more likely he's asking as a DMStygian Devout wrote:Good question. Do you play a Scholar?
From the descriptions of risen humans, wolves, and grey ape it appears it's just a matter of adding the traits of Undead and Limp Stumble, and reducing the speed 10ft from the original creature's base.
Why so? I tend to think these kind of game mechanics help to reflect undead nature (absence of vital parts, resistance to blows, immunity to pain...). This quite goes along with the critical/massive damage immunity. Or so I think...Risen Dead do not get the Toughness feat.
Risen Dead lose all DR.
I talk to planets, baby.

I think its meant to represent that Risen dead are at the bottom of the undead food chain. Dangerous to a low level party but need to come out in large numbers to threaten high level adventurers.
Also disembowling or cutting the limb off a Risen dead doesnt have the same effect because they feel no pain and dont suffer the shock a living creature would feel but their dead rotting flesh isnt any better and alot of the time would be worse at preventing damage.

I'd personally lean towards taking away the DR of an undead creature.
Let's be blunt ; yes, an undead thing will not suffer the same way as a living creature would. But the thing's dead. Perhaps for some time now. Rotting, maggot-infested flesh, muscles falling off the cracked bone... It's animated by magic, yes, but that's about it. We're not talking Lich-dom here.

"DM! What is best in life?"
"To crush your characters! See their sheets pile before you! And hear the lamentation of their players!"
