Catacombs Cover

Postby Supplement Four » Fri May 01, 2009 3:17 am

I'm back-n-forth on the art we see in Conan. The last few supplements haven't bowled me over. But...that cover of Catacombs of Hyboria! That's a damn nice piece of art!

Wasn't it rejected for the core rule book?

I just love that pic, though. Rogues in the house, baby! Rogues in the house!

Has anyone got their hands on the "Catacombs" book yet for a review?

I dont like it, it looks like he's a-dancin'. It didn't surprise me when it was rejected for the 2nd Ed cover.

It sure beats the TC's cover but that doesn't change anything: Thak's still dancing.

It's akin to the famous Frazetta of the same scene:

I like it!

Like, and yet unlike. Frazetta was an absolute master with a brush IMO. I'd really really like a Frazetta cover. That would be great.

So that we're clear I like the theme, I admire the dynamics but those legs... Take this one for example (I hope I'm not against the board's rules now):

Thak should have shorter legs and not be able to lift one of them that high up. More like an actual ape in this respect.

I like the cover. Compared to the cover for Thief's Companion, this is a masterpiece!
"The victim's body turned purple and then black, and within a few minutes he sank down dying, and the stench of his own putrefaction was in his nostrils even before death wrenched his soul from his rotting body."

Heres a favour I'd like to ask...

Is anyone clever enough to put the Thief's Companion logo onto that Frazetta pic, as a mock-up as to how it would look with a great cover, just so as I could see what it looks like?

Cheers in advance.
