* Adding more moves in combat

* Reworking Fate Point generation
* Reworking Defensive Blast and adding some new spells

There's more to come, but it's still the came core system.
Thus it seems more a lifting than a new system

Is there a possibility that a PDF could be released of only the rules changes, at a price between $5-10 (and of course done in such a way that the game cannot be played without either first, revised or second edition handbook)?

Very cool. Great artwork there.

I'm glad it looks to be just a facelift to the current rules, more of a 'changes that seemed like a good idea' rather than 'let's remake the entire thing.' S'cool. It will be a lot easier to get my players to accept a new edition of the rules if it's basically the same, with just more options and some slight rule adjustments. As we all know, fundamental changes can make long-time players really edgy.

Maybe you guys can sneak leg armour into the new edition. ~nudge nudge~

Ah, it's good to see that the border artwork has more of what we really need in a new edition...more scantily clad young virgins!

If this is the first of many, then how many is 'many'? Not to mention that this one contains nothing about the 2ed. (one picture and some vague blurb don't count).

Looking forward to seeing it. But here's the big question, what's it gonna cost????

Any possibility of a SOC type discount to those of us who are loyal followers? :)

From the Mongoose press release for August 2007 releases:
The Conan Second Edition main rule book (160-page hardcover for $34.95 MSRP) for the Conan RPG includes revised rules, optional new rules and material from supplements, and new combat and tactical options for both game masters and players. The new addition includes crossover rules from the new Age of Conan war game.

Other Conan releases planned for August include the Conan RPG Game Master Screen ($14.95), Return to the Road of Kings supplement ($39.95) and Conan and the Waking Dream adventure ($9.95).

Why gripe about the price? You know your gonna buy it anyway. As long as the quality remains high its worth it. Think of all the hours you've enjoyed as a result of that $40.00 expenditure. Im guessing Ive played about 50 hours of actual game play so far and spent about quadruple that in enjoyable preparation. Ive spent an easy $400 in Conan material, with every book published on my shelf. So 250 hours of fun for $400 - thats about $1.60 an hour. Id say thats a bargain.

Keep publishing Mongoose! We'll keep buying!

The Atlantean Edition was 352 pages at $49.95. The new book is less than half the size, for $15 bucks (30%) less?

I wonder what they're going to cut to fit the book into 160 pages. I suspect the setting material from the 1st edition is going to be replaced by a "See the Return to the Road of Kings" entry at the bare minimum.

Ashigaru, I had the same question as well.
It is not just that the 2nd edition corebook will be less than half the pages of the Atlantean Edition, but that its 160 pages is including a "new" class (temptress) new rules, options, supplement material, and Age of Conan crossover material. It seems like more than just setting information would have to be cut out to fit all of that in 160 pages, unless very, very small print is being used.

I'd say all the rules will be in the MRB and all the background information in Return to the RoK (a la Deadlands).

If it's only 160 pages, then no Gazeteer and no bestiary. It is a good idea for people who already have the 1st. edition.
