Spontaneously I was going to agree with you, but on second thought, I'm not so sure this needs fixing. Getting your weapon stuck in someone is normally not desirable. You want to keep doing like 1d10+4 per attack rather than 1d4 per round . So you want to avoid losing your weapon. And so, a bigger ...

To the Hilt

this is a really cool combat manoeuver, but I think it is broken to some degree.... "If the damage rolled with the weapon (before modifiers for Strength, sneak attacks and bonuses of any kind) is higher than the character's Strength modifier, the weapon sticks into the enemy" So this apparently mean...

Re: Idea time: Espionage in the Hyborian age

I've envisioned that the Stygians use their traders in various western and eastern countries as spies and general keep-an-eye-outers and frequently use exiled Stygians for this Interesting and of course a trader is a natural cover for a spy. But keep in mind the vast majority of traders would be ju...

Let's stay on topic here - the other bands mentioned are all well and good but none of them have quite the narrow focus that The Sword does on its sound. You might even call it one-dimensionsal, but in this case it's a good thing.

Interesting... I think this could lead into a good question - What is the most advisable sorcery style for a Scholar to take at 1st?

I would have to say Prestidigitation myself, as Conjuring is a highly versatile and useful spell in the hands of a creative player.

on the subject of Prestige classes, the Secrets of Skelos book includes several prestige classes which where present in 1e, as well as a new one for 2e I believe.

The Sword are badass. They are from here in Austin too  They have been around a little while now, and are currently opening for Metallica on their tour so they have done pretty well. My fave tunes are Freya are Winter's Wolves from their first album. Saw them play a few weeks ago - truly ri...

I dont think anyone can beat the original Conan Movies, i might just be naive and granted i dont know very much about Robert E Howards creation except the movies and the few bits i read while laying out cities, cimmeria and khitai. But the originals were a couple of my fave movies, and Arnie really...

We play in Austin but I think the group is at capacity for the moment. I'm not the GM so I'll let him weigh in on it.

However I may be starting a separate campaign of my own... I'll keep you in the loop.

Initiates of Set's mysteries gain several bonuses and abilities that increase their sorcerous power, the seventh mystery alone grants a +2 to all magic attack rolls, Indeed, judicious application of the gods' mysteries, as well as the cults available in Secrets of Skelos can grant substantial addit...

I like the rules for fencing, you can really customize a fighting style with it. It would have been cool if there was actually a difference between the Zingaran and Aquilonian schools though, as game rules are identical.

One of the additions I liked was how the section on cults was expanded and, like the Knowledge:Mystery skill, provides benefits that translate directly into character goodies, like free spells, bonuses to MA, etc. The cult of Skelos is a good example of that...

That's a good point, and I think a clarification is in order - does the immediate action of a defensive blast actually interrupt the attack that triggered it? Or does the attack resolve before the blast takes effect? I always thought the idea of a defensive blast was to defend against such an attack...

Well well, my humble post has yielded quite the bounty! I was at first hoping at most for a few tips on beefing up a sorcerer build but Vince's character stats are a pleasant surprise. Thanks for the NPC stats Vincent, those can undoubtedly be put to good use for my game's adventures in Stygia :twis...

Knowledge: Mystery

The Stygia and Faith & Fervor books introduced this skill and details the mysteries of the Hyborian Age gods. The bonuses granted by the mysteries can be pretty nice! I think the detail put into the mysteries of the individual gods is pretty cool, and I find myself planning character builds around t...

Hehe my scholar had something like +15 Intimidate by 6th level.

Sorcerers in Conan rock! Spells like Blindness (opponents eyeballs fly from their sockets to your hand) seal the deal for me :)
