Re: Wizard of OZ RPG

Which is not to say that Mongoose couldn't do its own of course, the original novel being long out of copyright and in the public domain. Actually, in an article I read just today about the new Oz movie, it was stated that Disney (somehow) owns the rights to all 18 of the novels, just not the Judy ...

Re: Starting Age

Final age of a character at the end of creation really did not matter, as long as you took good notes while making your character, who cared how old you were? Players that role-play tend to care about the age of their character. It's part of their backstory, and how other PCs and NPCs may react to ...

Re: Starting Age

There is no reason why characters apparent or actual age needs to be fixed. I've started characters later than 18 so I don't have everyone (including NPCs) with ages four years apart from each other. Back when I played a lot more Traveller (LBB), we used a lot of the expanded character creation opt...

Starting Age

I am doing some character creation and I was looking through Book 3: Scout. The example character in there, Mahran Schaeffer, is shown as starting at age 16. I thought that character creation started at age 18. I looked for anything that talked about starting younger, but could not find it. I then l...

Re: Astrogation clarification

Hello and thanks for reading. I've recently bought the pdf for Traveller and I'm a little confused. In reading the book the skill for Astrogation it says: Plotting a course to a target world using a gas giant for a gravity slingshot : Education, 10–60 minutes, Difficult (–2) The section for jumping...

Question from a New Guy/Old Gamer

I am quite interested in A Call To Arms: Star Fleet, but I have a number of questions to ask before I dive into this. I am hoping someone can answer them. I know that I need the main game, A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, in order to play. Is this just a book? Is it a box set? What do I actually get with...

Re: Comment on the State of the Mongoose

What would be worth a Kickstarter, would be to make an all digital software version of Traveller - so that you could generate characters, starships, worlds and systems all with a computer or tablet. If they can raise enough money, it could be made really slick and stylishly with graphics for starsh...

I never worry about posting my own game material online because if my players came here and read it: a) I would be shocked; b) I would be REALLY shocked, since none of them go to gaming forums ever!

Re: Character creation

Second, what do you define as a "successful" term? To me, any term your characters passes the Survival roll is a successful term. Is it due to a lack of skills received? With this version of Traveller, you get a skill roll every term, more possible skills due to Events, and another for Advancement....

Re: Character creation

Red Bart, I have a few questions to ask you, since you are fairly new at this. Just want to make sure where you are coming from on all this. First, I am curious where you find this suggestion/recommendation of limiting characters to three terms. Generally, over the 30+ years I have run various versi...

Would any of the Vehicle books have SRD rules? This will allow those of us who are working on third-party documents to include by-the-book vehicle designs in their products... Sadly, nothing new has been added to the SRD. Current news that I have is that things will be added eventually. No specific...

Good tips. Sadly my gaming group consists of mostly Luddites when it comes to getting stuff online, and they have not gotten me anything for GMs Day previously, so I doubt they will this time either. Add to that the fact I am unemployed and that means I can't buy it for myself either. Oh well, maybe...

That is true, but I never did like the point buy system. Wasn't planning on adding it to this project. Was hoping we could do this as a stand alone project. Have to discuss it with others now.

I was going through the SRD and I noticed something that needs a bit of clarification. In several places it mentions using the characteristic DM on dice rolls. However, the Characteristic Modifiers Table is not included in the SRD. Was this left out on purpose? I ask because if it is not part of the...

We'll be doing a round up of the SRD in the New Year, adding all sorts of new bits and pieces.
As someone who is in the process of using the SRD to create a product, I was wondering if this work on the SRD has been completed.

I know that I will be buying the pocket edition. I actually prefer my Traveller books to be a smaller size. You should see my original Traveller box that I got for Christmas of 1979. It is crammed full of books. For me, Traveller books should be digest sized.

I would love to purchase a new edition of Traveller. I've even bouth editions I was not to crazy about (except for the d20 version). However, recent changes in my employment status have forced me to say I will not be purchasing it in the near future.

There will be a slight delay with v3.2 while I work out why my pdf-maker has stopped working. If you need any help with this, please let me know. I work with Adobe Acrobat Professional on a daily basis. I know that I am an unknown entity here (unless you happened to just purchase Sherwood by Battle...
