Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Where are the crown jewels of Sindal?

Byrni would be a good place to have something, as would the guy that’s the patron hook for Noricum, a descendent who may have just stashed the item as it wasn’t useful. While preparing my PoD campaign, I rolled up NPCs. One owns a small craft and some vehicles as mustering out benefit. He now offer...

Yeah me too, so useful if you want to represent real changes in the campaign.
Same here, that is one potent tool, I did not appreciate enough yet, though I already appreciated it a lot.

But, I have had a hardcover saying "Drinaxian Companion" next to my desk for some time now...?

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Absolutely, this is very useful work. And it covers closely other sources available. So we probably could produce a list here that's fairly complete. It's a bit difficult, because of PoD 1st and 2nd edition differences, but it should be doable.

Wait, wasn't the Companion released last year? Is this already a reprint? With corrections probably?

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Do we actually have a canon list of former Sindalian worlds? I see this map and it's similar in scope and extent to another one floating around in the internet, but I don't know if these are completely homebrewed works or not.

Re: Spinal Weapons and Minimum Ship Size

Looked it up again and it's in expansion No. 4 "Far Side of Nowhere" of the DNR campaign. They are called "capital turrets" and work like bays (which they are rulewise) but need to have a turret ring and barbette (the naval design element, not the HG rule) installed into the ship's hull by design. T...

Re: Spinal Weapons and Minimum Ship Size

There are super-sized turrets, similar to bays but able to be rotated and trained, in one of the Deepnight books. You might want to take a look at these for further inspiration.

Re: Aslan and Clan Society

Because of their disparate nature, it would ostensibly be easy to divide and conquer the Aslan. There is little that holds their territory together politically speaking. However, few outsiders uphold the tenets of fteir, which the Aslan view to be sacrosanct. Even if two clans dislike each other, p...

Re: Jumping away from gas giants

Same goes for stars. Yep. Which can be problematic. Take a look at the red giant in Acrid/Trojan Reach and tell me where to place the mainworld. If you place it in the habitable zone, it's still weeks away by manoeuvre drive. You can place Acrid in the outer system, but that makes its corrosive atm...

Re: Jumping away from gas giants

The 100D-rule is pretty sketchy at best as it treats every body of mass the same, careless about density. This makes jumping away from a star with the mass of 1 sol (e. g. our sun) much more difficult than jumping away from a black hole or a neutron star of the same mass, since their greater density...

Re: Any Battletech/MechWarrior Adaptations out There?

Glad to be of service, BT/MW is a great universe and Traveller has a splendid rule-system. I understoot that you used Alpha Strike, but also tinkered with MW: Destiny. How did you like the Mech combat rules in MW: Destiny? Could they be a compromise between MW2 and Alpha Strike?

Re: Any Battletech/MechWarrior Adaptations out There?

I haven't first hand experience per se, but before MW:Destiny hit, I was toying with the idea of getting into either Traveller (MgT2) or modify the old MechWarrio 2nd edition rules for my liking. Essentially, those were 2d6 rules with some 3d6 rolls used in special situations. As such, they were ext...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

I agree with the RU thing. i ended up using the original Harrier rules were you exchanged ships shares to fix things or paid in game cash for it. Same here. We used up the player's Ship Shares and fixed her up pretty well. As the first adventure started, the Harrier was in very fine condition and t...

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Detailed fleet lists

These lists don't exist in books, so it's pretty much "whatever you want in your campaign". Drinax for example has nothing larger than SDBs and a few jump-capable ships, but none over 100 dtons.

Hm, it does feature the Oghman Raider vom "Makergod" and some from "The Mystery of BT-SHT 365". But it lacks JTAS-publications.

Maybe a second sheet for TAS publications? And JTAS in the first sheet?

I considered that but decided that the Vexpexer tribes are not counted in with the main population in my game. Some tribes allied with chief Grax's federation work with the Floating palace others oppose them in a very mad max meets Fallout kind of wasteland :D Same here. I'd argue that no-one went ...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

I think it's deliberately left open. The campaign comes with a map, which shows the main level in abstraction and we read of "gravity dungeons" down in the belly of the beast. But that's about it. Given the size of the map and applying a guesstimate scale to it (no actual scale given), I'd say the m...
