Re: Traveller on VTTs

We use FGU, very happy with the experience the developer who is very responsive and putting out nearly weekly updates. This looks like a very powerful tool, adzling. Could you talk a bit about the features available for GM and players? How would one categorize, file or structure handouts, worlds, t...

Re: No, seriously, WTF is up with Mongoose's PDF bookmarks?

The common factor here may be Chrome - can someone please try the free Adobe Acrobat Reader and see if they can replicate this? We seem to only have this issue on Chrome right now... I use Adobe, but not the free reader since I have the full suite. Sword World cascades nicely with two layers of boo...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Yesterday I digged out my old "Pocket Empires" for T4. Has anyone ever tried to manage empire-building for PoD with Excel (or similar software)? I really want a computer assisted solution for macro and world building events with a randomness factor, so the story remains surprising even for me as a G...

Re: The Mercenary Kickstarter is Now Live!

I'd say the actual issue is that the all branches of the British military have fallen below critical mass, which is where the tank crisis came in as well. In actuality, the Imperium probably has more qualified volunteers than it knows what to do with, because you can bet in lieu of the clergy, the ...

Agreed, but we should not allow the chance of mishap to routinely go to zero.
D'accord, the dice demand blood. Frosty, frosty blood.

Yes, the short stories are gold for background. I'm looking forward to read the rest of them.

I certainly hope that the Third Imperium sourcebook, which is due this year, will talk about that.

Re: Low Passage rules query

Why would anyone pay Cr8000 for a mid passage if a Cr1000 low passage was perfectly safe? The low passage will even prolong your life! The whole point of low passage is that is cheap, but dangerous. Good point. A 1/216th chance to flatline permanently is not a perfectly safe method of transit, thou...

Re: Low Passage rules query

Starting with a base line of 8+, I was figuring on a traveller with Int9 (DM+1) and Medic1 (DM+1), on a TL12 ship (DM+1), taking there time (difficultly-2), is going to succeed on 3+. Basically anything other than a snake eyes succeeds. A death rate of 1/36. I haven't factored in the low passenger'...

Re: The Mercenary Kickstarter is Now Live!

I feel your pain when it comes to flag officers, it certainly is a bewildering development. Given the many departments and offices modern navies have, this might be the cause. The Imperial Navy might be a similar case, especially since it is strongly intertwined with Imperial nobility. That is never...

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Drinaxi military at the start of the campaign

The thread is somewhat aged, but still relevant to groups and GMs, I think. Also, new source material is available through the short stories that have been published, e. g. referring to this item: Battle dress is another story. All those strength motors and things require a lot of maintenance. Just ...

Re: Low Passage rules query

Don't forget that at TL12 there is a DM+1 and that before a check characters can always opt to use "more time" to receive a further DM+2 per increment. Using the latter rule once your usual TL12 Type-A freetrader transforms from deathtrap to "umm, yeah, okay" for a skill check of effectively 5+ befo...

Nah, gloat as much as you like. I would!
On the other hand, you got to see the content before anyone else.
It certainly seems that way. But rest assured, the content seemed to be exactly as in the PDF.

Re: The Mercenary Kickstarter is Now Live!

I always got the impression, at least in modern times, for the British it's a question of rank inflation and pay grades, because command slots became fewer, the obvious case of having more admirals than warships in the Royal Navy, compared to the the Wehrmacht, where a senior non commissioned offic...

During the last couple of days I used a free website and some random art found on the internet to make "breaking news" screens. I converted the PNG files the website offers for download to PDF and edited them somewhat, then reconverted them to PNG for use with Roll20. I do not own the original artwo...

Re: Shadows of Sindal Thread (Spoilers)

Ahhh, Krrsh. I loved that NPC. Sadly he got nailed by a sniper on Theev in our campaign. Never ever knew what hit him. As for Oleb, yes, he loves the piracy. My original PoD group did engage in piracy, but with only lukewarm enthusiasm. Oleb threatened to recall the Harrier from them if they didn't...

Re: Shadows of Sindal Thread (Spoilers)

I must have an empathetic group. While the Aslan are perceived as a lingering threat in the region, the thought of using a bioweapon is anathema to them. Of course, my guys don't even pirate anything. They farmed that out to Miria Silverhand and are instead trying to establish diplomatic and trade ...

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Where are the crown jewels of Sindal?

Speaking of the hidden depot, has anyone worked up stats for the either the hidden base coreward of Ace, or the pirate base in the Wildeman system? Yes, I did just recently. I made it into a 20,000 dton "Sindalian System Control Station" with powerful sensors and a good weapon layout, but nothing m...
