Re: Shipyard Maintenance

I understand apologize, if my comment came across too harshly; it was meant as a review not and insult.

Re: Shipyard Maintenance

Why is a construction deck not a good as a shipyard? I'm speculating here, but given that the current Highguard puts both the Construction Deck and the Full Hangar at a 2:1 ratio of volume used and maximum displacement serviceable (one states "half" its own size, the other needs "twice" the displac...

Re: Shipyard Maintenance

I would require a full Construction Deck or Shipyard (HG p62) to count as a shipyard for maintenance. And I would rule that it would still be a poorly equipped yard for yearly maintenance. There are reasons navies fly their jets to land bases and not keep them on aircraft carriers for all of their ...

Re: Shipyard Maintenance

In short: Military logistics is more than buying raw firepower. There are numerous instances of navies, armies and air forces of third-rate military nations that get shiny toys bought for them by their leaders, but no maintenance contracts or sites constructed. This usually ends with your fancy jets...

Re: Travellers Needed - Pirates of Drinax Reprint

Why do people still live in the Maldives even though it’s being consumed by sea level rise? Or Bangladesh for that matter? In the OTU, interstellar travel isn’t available to most people. You can’t easily move billions of them. Albe was an important world in the Sindalian Empire. It was also kind of...

Re: Solomani Adventure 1: Mysteries on Arcturus Station - eBook & Pre-Order

I just bought it but still waiting on your junk shopping cart system to process a paypal order for the e-book. Very frustrating, maybe you should take a look at other way to process oreders. Have you had any joy yet? I'm in the same position, and wondering when it might come through. I wonder what ...

Re: Torpedoes and Missiles

I certainly do hope, there will be a Highguard Vol. II in the intermediate future that compilates all naval warfare and architecture options from the various publications since the original Highguard volume and expands on them in terms of tactics, strategies and trends in naval architecture. I love ...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

"How do we bring down that billionaire?" "Easy. We follow the chromium." One more thing - a small table of the SI prefixes somewhere would be a great way to introduce the readers to the prefixes from yotta- to yocto-. Nothing adds verisimilitude to science fiction than a referee who knows the diffe...

A quick poll...

We mention the use of KCr in the Core Rulebook (as in Cr, KCr, and MCr), but we never properly implemented it.

Would you like us to do so in the equipment chapter?
Indeed, I would. I liked the usage of it in previous editions of Traveller and I think it adds to the game.

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

A holdover from the 1970s, where the only sources of oil seemed to be countries which were mostly deserts, and there was a real love/hate thing going on between the West and the Middle East ... We now know better, and we kind of know better how petrochemicals came about, and then there's Titan ... ...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

Maybe that could be an adventure module or two: "Hunting on 10,000 Worlds": what's legal & what's illegal to hunt, Imperial stance on hunting (probably left to the worlds), a new safari ship and potential NPC crew, a vehicle (to be trampled by some large creature :D ), a couple of patrons (one to h...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

On Gun Combat yes the main differences in aiming and firing should probably boil down to Handgun, Long Gun and Automatic rather than just Rifle or Pistol - but then you have the problem of the higher TL Long Guns all being automatics as well and where does the SMG fit? And Gun Combat also covering ...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

Like all scholastic skills, perhaps Medic needs to be a cascade skill, a part of Science ... Hm, not certain, I would agree completely here. Medic as of now is much more about practice than it is about theory. So, it's a skill that is part acting in certain ways, part Profession and part Science. T...

Or a simpler Medic cascade: EMT Physician Surgeon Nurse I like this a lot, but may I suggest using words that are more commonly known by non-native speakers, e. g. first aid, medical diagnosis, surgery, healthcare. Also, medical professionaly should not be possible to be build solely through one pr...

Something else that needs sorting is the Science skill which was IMO better handled in MGT1
I use Science, Art and Profession macro / cascade skill options from the Companion. Pretty much as detailled as Traveller with a 2D6 system can be.

Funny thing: Populations grow exponentially. It's the only way to go other than the way of the dodo. Humanity hit the one billion mark around the year 1800, ten years ago we reached seven billion. The big impediments to exponential growth are infant mortality, progress in medicine (i. e. vaccines ag...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

And somehow there will always be more babushkas - not that many but just enough to replace those of us who die off. The thing is, I don't see the future for Traveller that bleak. I could see that the most adamant grognards do not draw many new players into the hobby. But the game itself might very ...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

Spaceship innards, outside of major components, are somewhat of a mystery. In theory, bulkheads should be constructed of the best material available; in practice that would only be confirmed by differing armour values. Good point. One could expect a base armour value of some sort, which derives its...

That's all cool to me. The name can be changed right at the last minute if necessary: "Blue Harvest," "Torchwood," and TDM's "Project Rose Garden" spring to mind.
Let's make it a very British Rainbow Code, shall we? Blue Danube springs to mind.

I'm glad, I figured that one out eventually. I bought the box somewhat later then I would have, had I known more about the content. Although, funds are limited, so something will always get bought later... :D
