"Untrained" Mount (*) - Rider must expend a CA and make a ride roll each round to stay on the back of the beast "Normal Riding" Mount (not war trained) (**) - Mount and rider treated as single entity with Riders Combat actions. - Rider can use "Ride" roll to evade in place of Mounts evasion skill. ...

A couple of comments (for what little they're worth): Robasart succeeds with a perception roll and thus clearly sees the magical missile readied on the bow of the nomad and thus decides to run 40m down the hill (3rdCA – sprint) The perception is clearly house-ruling here. Effects are supposed to be ...

Anyway, be that as it may the Chaos rune is a good fit for DnD Evil. And where does that leave Lawful Evil? I'm not a Glorantha expert, but from my understanding Glorantha's Chaos probably equates fairly closely to D&D Chaotic Evil. Whether Harmony equals Lawful Good, I'm not so sure. The real trou...

People have moral disagreements and in few conflicts is there white hats and black hats, but if Chaos isn't Evil, its something very very VERY like it. But in D&D/Pathfinder they are distinct concepts. The question for the OP, I would say, is whether he is trying faithfully to recreate the cosmolog...

I've actually being using this exact same rule in my houserules for over a year now and it works for me. There are various implications: A critical that causes a serious or major wound is almost impossible to resist. It makes critical attacks more scary. The higher your skill the more likely you ar...

Thanks for the quick reply, Pete. I won't say I'm wholly convinced, but, when I get a game actually going, I'll almost certainly go by the RAW and see how I feel about it in practice. I do see your point about sticking with the core mechanic - and I can see there are practical difficulties in going ...

Ruminating a bit further, I've realised that my suggestion of 10 x damage dealt would be too likely to result in insta-death even where there was no previous damage.

I think the general point still holds though.

Serious/major wounds: opposed resilience test

I'm still slowly digesting (or at least trying to digest) the new rules (sadly I have plenty of time to do it as I don't have an active game at present  ). Anyway, I note that when a character suffers a serious or major wound they must now make an opposed resilience test versus the opponent's s...

Actually in RQII all rounding is rounding up, as opposed to RQI where it was all rounding down. So your critical chance at 45% is 5%.
Ah cheers - I hadn't actually spotted that. Or at least, I think I might have read it, but hadn't internally digested ...

Page 139, Heading "Spirit Binding", first paragraph, last two sentences: "The POW of the largest spirit which can be bound or controlled cannot exceed three times the critical range of this skill. Thus a character with a Spirit Binding skill of 45% could control spirits of up to 15 POW." Presumably ...

Thanks for the quick response. I'll definitely check that out - thereby jumping it to the head of the queue of a dozen or so other RQ books I'm planning to buy

Divine magic

Well after having Deluxe RQ on my shelf for many months now, I'm finally (I hope) getting ready to run a game. However, I am not keen on the "fire and forget" (until you pray and pay) nature of divine magic. I realise it needs some sort of "balancing" mechanism compared to rune magic and sorcery as ...
