Re: Carriers and Aircraft

Bombers seem to be rubbish. Dive bombers and torpedo bombers are devastating. Bombers do 2DD with no AP. In our game we only scored two hits with planes. A torpedo bomber did 10 damage and blew a destroyer sky high. A bomber hit a destroyer and did one damage. Working as intended :) Level bombers i...

Re: Carriers and Aircraft

Got a question for you here... If we allowed Carriers to take whatever aircraft they liked for free (subject to the year the battle may or may not be set in), would that imbalance things massively (given that the same will apply to both players)? It would mean certain aircraft would not get used in ...

Re: Victory at Sea Scenario playtest

Rather than have a single Victory at Sea scenario, break it down into 4-6 separate scenarios, with a random table for selection. Eg Breakout vs Defense Line, Last Stand, Domination, Attrition, Ultimate Enemy, etc. This works well for another game I play a lot of. Actually, I think I know how to do ...

Mention radar in the bad weather rules. Surely radar should be better than eyeballs?
Possibly not, with 1940s technology, but I will consult with the Naval Boffins. Looking at your other comments and making changes...

Re: Refits - Let's Sort Them Out!

Just to clarify, we are not looking at dropping the Refits, just the points values attached to them.

As for Air Groups, that is something we are looking at :)

Refits - Let's Sort Them Out!

Hi guys, Okay, one thing I think we can nail with a decent discussion... Refits. Specifically, whether we should include points values for all of them. My feelings on this have been stated in the playtest packs - that they should be 'locked' from 'tournament' style games, and used only for historica...

Re: Has the Traveller timeline ever advanced?

We have been talking about this a lot behind the scenes - going beyond the FFW and up to when the Empress Wave hits important things. The one problem we have is that Traveller does not only cover a huge amount of time but also space - we could spend the rest of our lives detailing Charted Space in 1...

The Traveller Companion - It Exists!

Well, we have been talking about the Traveller Companion for quite some time now - it was first mentioned in the Core Rulebook. I can now safely (and proudly) say... the manuscript is with us, fresh from the fertile mind of Martin Dougherty! I have already gone through a draft of this book, but now ...

Would Mongoose ever consider collecting rules clarifications like these and maintaining a "Sage Advice" style document?
It is certainly something we should properly look into.

Re: Why no career books?

We have looked at this and we believe that, in and of themselves, the careers in the Core Rulebook pretty much cover everything. That said... There will be some variant careers in the Traveller Companion, and we are currently working on a Psion book because, well, there is plenty to expand upon ther...

Hey there,

The new 2300AD has been completely re-written from the ground up, and is currently undergoing editing. We did consider having the core rules in the book, but it was growing too large!

Re: Upcoming Traveller releases

1. It will indeed be 1105 (pre-pre-pre FFW!) 2. We tackle all major worlds and a few minor ones - we are unlikely to cover every world of any sector (even the sparser ones of the Great Rift!) as referees benefit from having areas of their own to create their own adventures in. Basically, we don't wa...

Re: Victory at Sea Playtesting - Basic Rules

umm probably a daft question but how do I know what aircraft were on a carrier as the carrier just says 10 flights for example ?. or am I missing a document ? Well, this has been the topic of some debate :) We were originally going to provide exact load outs, but they changed so often throughout th...

Re: Welcome to the Open Playtest

Well, I don't want to be insulting, but when I read all the comments, and all the questions about VAS II, it seems to be an untidy draft copy. It is an untidy draft copy - that is all part of the playtesting process :) By the time the book is printed and released, it will be ship-shape and Bristol-...
