Robot Crewmen?

Why don't we see more Robot Crewmen in this version of Traveller? In the Main Rule Book There are Robots listed, Repair Robots, Servitor Robots, etc. Couldn't you just take those, add in some Expert programs and use them as Crewmen to fill up the crew requirements on a ship? Using the Robots book, i...

Re: why have the Kizinti been neutered?

I was a Kzin player in SFB many years ago. After seeing the way ACTA handles drones I was kinda disappointed. The current drone rules really change the flavor of the game IMO. Let me see if I can describe why some old Kzin players are disappointed; In SFB typically the Kzin player would flush all dr...

Re: Corsair Question

I suspect that a true corsair would attempt to look more like a merchant vessel, and would therefore have a more bland colour scheme, but otherwise the ship looks like a corsair to me. What? That's my merchant ship, completely and legally registerd as a merchant ship. Why the corsair body an...

Re: Corsair Question

See the High Guard book, page 2. Planetary Navy usually has the responsibility up to the Main World 100D Limit, along with Gas Giants and/or any other inhabited worlds/belts. Subsector Navy handles the spaceways, trade/commerce across the Subsector. Imperial Navy defends the Sectors and Imperial Bou...

Re: Corsair Question

Actually, I like the description in the MgT mainbook about the corsair originally being a "Pocket Warship" and IMTU they are used not just by pirates but also by some cheap mercenary naval units. Case in point one of the PC ships in my game is a Corsair and they're going to be hired as a convoy esco...

Re: Imperial Navy ID Card

Thanks guys! Which templates would you be interested in (beyond the obvious: IISS, IM, UIA, SPA, IBI...)? Interested in ALL of them, but understand there's a time issue. I'd say start with the basic careers in the Mainbook. Navy, IISS, Army, Marine, etc. I'm considering civilian ID. Planet specific...

Re: Corsair Question

The MgT Corsair has a cargo bay that is 16x20 squares. The Type-S is 12x20, so it would fit.

Re: Traveller Prelude on Earth?

I've had a campaign idea knocking around in my head for several years in which a ship with an alien crew kidnaps a team of humans from Modern Earth and transports them in cold sleep(low berth) via a slower than light ship to another world. Still haven't decided on what rules system to use but it's o...

Re: So an idea on a campaign heading

Actually a Moonbase is counterproductive. It's easier to get to Demios from LEO(Low Earth Orbit) than it is from a Moonbase due to the Moon's gravity well. Check out a board game called "High Frontier." It is designed by Phil Eklund, a NASA Rocket Scientist who spent 20+ years working and studying i...

Re: Traveller Player Locator

Iron Guardian, you must have edited an older version of the list for your post. I'm not on your list. You might want to take the last post, the one by Trojan Points, and edit that one and post it so that names don't get lost. :)

Re: Quick Question - Who Would Be Interested In This?

Yea, for FRPG I prefer a game that was written specifically for that genre. A lot more detail on character creation than Traveller style.

Re: Changing Specialisations

If you mean being able to switch Specializations within a career when you go into a new Term? Yes. However, you also have to use the correct Survival/Advancement chart with the new Spec. Some of them are much different. I had one character I was creating that was in the Imperium Navy Flight career(H...

Prime Directive Traveller should be very cool. We've(our game group) has the idea to combine it with the Artemis Bridge Simulator for a game. :)

Re: Some considerations about staterooms (with pictures)

That's because Traveller is a RPG about Adventurers in a SciFi setting. If you want a game that simulates economics in a SciFi Setting I would recommend another game/simulation... ;)

In MgT the price does go up as the Jump number goes up. MgT mainbook, page 160.

I like a character that has a lot of skills but one or two that is higher level.
