Re: Suggested prices and ways of disciplining

The character was born on the planet B3K, where she was sold by her parents to the Wife Bank. During her initial years Zev was raised by computers that taught her to become a perfect wife. As a result, the character became overweight and was rejected by her bridegroom.[4] Zev was then sentenced to ...

Re: Mongoose Traveller cross compatibility and immortality

There's a story in the Sector General series of an alien who uses regeneration to become somewhat immortal, though the process each time wipes out his memory, so he keeps a detailed journal in order to catch up.

Re: Orbital Belts

It's probably cheaper to use experimental variants of manoeuvre and/or lifter drives.

Re: How close are orbital starports?

You can pick your point of departure, and only guesstimate your point of arrival.

Regular routes would probably allocate, let's call them arrival lanes, large enough to compensate for most random drops out of hyperspace, so that traffic can avoid each other.

Re: Low tech ships - Need help

I find a thirty six second launch rate pretty good, especially in comparison to missiles and torpedoes, with their rate of fire of one per six minutes.

Re: Low tech ships - Need help

As far as I know, you have two basic locations for aircraft carrier elevators, along the edges or in the middle. So the middle ones go straight through the hull, while the edge ones push the smallcraft out the side, where lift elevates them to the hull flight deck. https://plamoya.com/bmz_cache/6/6a...

If the economic argument loses out, slavery would be a form of judicial punishment, or a way to demonstrate power dynamics.

It's not Haste and Slow spells, so no magical inherent compensatory constitutional inertial compensation.

Automation is the future, but the game is sophont based.

Also, weird radiation can fry computer chips.

Fusion creates practically free energy, efficiency at this point is time based, which is hard capped at one week down the rabbit hole.

Re: Orbital Belts

I'm thinking that at some point you'd want to restrict orbital access to vital traffic, in order not to clutter it up, and if you happen to have a natural satellite, directing the bulk of it there.

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Also, since you have to sell off the armed merchant cruisers after the conflict has ended, in this game fairly guaranteed to last quite a while, compared to real life crises that might be over in six months, you'd want to get as many in as early as possible to maximize your return on investment, tho...

Re: Low Berth vs Fast Drug

I'm not a biologist nor a pharmacist.

But I think it also depends if it's an active ingredient or a passive one.

An active ingredient continually aggravates the body to continue the effect, while the passive one just kicks off the effect and for all intents and purposes disappears.

Re: Low tech ships - Need help

I thought about that. You can embed grav plates on the hull, though you probably have a greater diminishing returns effect, but it seems unlikely that you neutralize the effects of acceleration, though you could conduct operations there like being effected like a strong wind, possibly with magnetic ...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Could be because I never prioritize research on that subject, Q ships turn up rather late in my timelines. Five hundred tonne weapon bays have to be an odd shape, and would make it easily identified as a preprepped platform. Depending on the era, you could have protected cruisers (and armoured ones)...

Re: Low tech ships - Need help

Fixed mounts for energy weapons seems a chained event, since you have to line up your nose, presumably, with your target, though the targetting computer should be constantly informing you when something could be hit while you're jiggling about.

Re: Gauss Weapons System - Feedback?

Assault rifles are jack of all trades. Wargaming it, you could have assault squads armed with shotguns, much like you had assault sections armed with submachine guns. This is effective when faced with unarmoured troops, at likely close quarters. If you upgun a shotgun, you come out with a grenade la...

Re: Modular hull question

Breakaways need their own bridge equivalents and set of ship systems.

At least according to High Guard.

The most prominent example would be the Star Trek saucer section.
