Tell them that if they agree to join the military and go on missions, they might get to command a military grade staship. :D

Long Description I have to admit, that doesn't sound half bad. When I read that it would change to a narrative system, I was thinking of the poor 1st edition Star Wars system. This one sounds like it will involve all the players, which is a definite plus, but will still allow for tactical positioni...

Actually I saw something, I forget exactly where it was that said that characters only get 5 attacks per round. I think it was in the DMG but I think they were trying to keep characters from having the attacks score that Baraendur mentioned. Don't ask me where it is since I don't know, I just blund...

1) Why must we differentiate between levels below and above 20, it seems like an avoidable evil to me, but let's see what the do in 2E. To keep power levels realistic, and to keep from having to design a completely new game to support high level play. If you continue to use the same advancement, by...

Neo wrote:If you want to know what the starship combat system in 2e will be like check out the WARs RPG.

Trust the system works fine and is very tactical.
I don't have Wars, nor do I plan to get it. Could you give us a brief overview of what the starship combat system looks like?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I think the rapid advancement of characters and then differentiating between levels 1 - 20 and above is a fundamental flaw in the design of 3E. In my opinion, epic becomes too powerful, and if anything, epic should slow the progression of characters wa...

Most of the changes sound OK, but the idea of changing the ship combat system to a narrative one does not seem like such a good idea to me. The first edition of Star Wars had a narrative system, and nobody liked it at all, so in 2E, they switched over to tactical system. Using A Call to Arms might b...

I think the notion of making B5 OGL is good, but the rules changes concern me. How much rules information from the previous accessories are going to become obsolete? I really hope I don't have to repurchase the entire line to be 2E compatible. Now the 2006 product line does look like they are contin...

I would go for the core rulebook, the sourcebooks on the Minbarri, Centauri, Narn, Earth Alliance, and the League of Non-Aligned Worlds. That should give you lots of material to play with.

D20 Modern had been available for a while when the B5 RPG was released, so I don't think Mongoose is looking at that as an option. Honestly, I love the D20 Modern mechanics, but I don't necessarily think they would be the best fit for B5. I'm really pretty happy with the way the B5 RPG is set up.

I actually quite liked the Battlestar Galactica remake. I think it added depth to science fiction that we definitely don't see in Star Trek or other science fiction currently on TV. It's no Babylon 5, but I'll gladly watch it. Battlestar Galactica has big shoes to fill..... Two class movies, and a p...

Yeah, the vitality and wound point system does make quite a bit of sense and it ends up working quite a bit like the variable massive damage system. What I like about massive damage is that its a bit more malleable than WP/WP, but either system would work well for a B5 game that is a bit more focuse...

Farscape stuck around for 4 years, they dumped it, someone bought the network and now they are filming a mini-series to test the waters again . . . . I'm guessing that the purpose of the miniseries is simply to finish off the story, given the way they ended the series. I mean you don't just run a s...

The B5 Hit Point System - Do we need an alternate?

OK, so I'm not going to say tha tthe hit point system in the core B5 book is broken. It does work, especially when you're running a game that focuses on the station, diplomacy, ship to ship combat, etc. I'm not about to argue the wisdom in setting it up the way it appears in the book. However, I do ...

My money is on a miniseries on the Telepath War...2 or 3 2 hour long episodes, like the recent Dune and children of Dune ones... VB. Its interesting that you suggest that. I was just thinking about how quality science fiction can exist in the world of television these days. We're talking about a pe...

Re: What about a theatrical movie?

TNT burned theirs and he had to take his ball and go find another playground with Crusade. SciFi Channel..well, nothing can be said that hasn't already been said about their programming. Who's left that wouldn't meddle in his story or production values? Well, there are the cable networks airing And...

Well, this is really cool. Thanks for the link!

So I started playing it and also got killed by the Alpha. It took awhile to figure out the controls since I'm not as flight sim savvy as some. Regardless, this begins to make up for the cancelled Sierra game.

Hyperspace is wicked cool.

Wow, that looks a bit like they migh bring back the original cast. If this happens, it will probably be the first time this sort of thing has happened in the history of TV.
